hey, i'm going to be buying a new engine for my car and i currently have the 3.4 w/an auto trans. i was going to put another 3.4 in but i was wondering if the 3.8 would bolt up to my trans.. would it work?i figure if 'm going to do it i might as well upgrade to the 3.8.. thanks

If youre going through the trouble of doing an engine swap, just go ahead and put this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33615&item=2444913674) in there instead.
Swapping from a 3.4 to a 3.8 would be much more trouble than it's worth IMO.

exactly what he said, the gains are not worth the work, for a few hundred more you shoudl go lt1.

The 3.4 and 3.8 engines have different bolt patterns.
You would need all most a hole 3.8 camaro to do the swap.
I f you want to up grade your 3.4 pull the heads off the old engine and port match them to the intake and get a bigger cam and 1.6 rockers for starters.
