1995redZ28 08-18-2002, 11:00 PM just wondering if anyone can help me out. im looking for someone with a scanner. my car runs pretty bad, bogs/hesitates under a load and im tired of playing guessing games. its been to the dealer, and they say its fine. i know the car isnt because i can feel the loss in power, especially throttle response. if anyone can help me out i would really appreciate it.

MustangEater82 08-19-2002, 11:35 AM they have soem restrictions, not sure what your car is like but I know last time I went they wouldn't scan my OBDI computer with OBDII connector.

1995redZ28 08-19-2002, 12:28 PM yeah i have thought about auto zone, but then i remember bringing my car there to get the battery and alt. checked out, and they didnt seem to know what they were doing. the car doesnt have a SES light on, and its not throwing codes, so auto zone would really help me would it?!?! what do they actually scan?? and i want to get the car scanned on WOT runs. oh well i just thought i would ask around. thanx for the idea though.

MustangEater82 08-19-2002, 12:37 PM I go autXing, my car is discharging, ABS light on all the tell tale sigsn of bad alternator.
i take it to autozone to check my alternator, guy tests it tells me its fried, I buy a new one take it home, geting ready for install.
And jsut see my alternator cabel became corroded and "broke" off my alternater during autXing, or on the way home. I not sure I drove 45 min. off the battery. Wither way I took alternator back and cleaned up the connector, modified a new battery cable to fit, and ran that laternator for another 6 months before it went out.
how old are your O2s, mone going bad caused me loss of power and 14 mpg city and 17 mpg on the higway in a 3.4L.

Mikael 08-19-2002, 05:01 PM I could do a datamaster scan, that would give us some info. Sounds like it just needs new plugs/wires.
1995redZ28 08-19-2002, 07:20 PM i just ordered new o2's today. just changing them so i can check it off my list of possible causes, although the dealer said they were fine. i just had new wires done about a month and a half ago. i did plugs myself about 6 months ago, used AC Delco. opti was also changed. so i dont know, im stumped!

MustangEater82 08-19-2002, 07:42 PM anothre thought the hypertech power programmer, or whatever it is maybe its confusing your computer?
Most the chips made for my car have been proven to dyno less hp.
Also how is your CAT? I mean sure doesn't really have miles on it but it is 7 years old.

Whistler 08-19-2002, 08:44 PM You can do a quick check of your TPS with a voltmeter to make sure the voltage increrase is linear.
1995redZ28 08-19-2002, 11:43 PM i have had a few people tell me about the hypertech module screwing things up, so its already out of the car, and the computer was supposidly reprogramed back to stock. i was thinking about the cat. i actually had my cat clog up on me already at only 10,000mi. when car went to dealer they said it was a recall, so i got everything for free. a few months after that car ran bad again, so i had plugs/wires and opti changed. now i think my cat is partially clogged again, but im not sure. the first time it was so bad the car wouldnt even drive 5ft. now it drives and has power, but not like it should. also in the past few weeks i have been noticing my cutout getting quieter. or maybe its in my head. u think i should bring it to a dealer and have them check out the cat? i always read on here that the cat will glow bright red when clogged, and mine isnt glowing at all, so i kept guessing that nothing is wrong with it. thanx again for all the advice, i really appreciate it.
