5.3 L V8 Impala SS...anyone excited?Z284ever 11-26-2003, 02:00 AM If rumors are true of a FWD 5.3L V8 Impala SS , would anyone be excited about a car like that? RedPhenx 11-26-2003, 02:24 AM heck yeah if it has the rumored 285+ hp Z28Wilson 11-26-2003, 06:31 AM I personally wouldn't be too interested in the car, but I think it'd be a step in the right direction. If I were in the market for a quick FWD sedan I'd jump over to the Pontiac side, V8 Impala or not. Donutboy97 11-26-2003, 07:23 AM If it was at least 290 HP, and came at the price that it is now, then yeah, if not, it's just another car Jason E 11-26-2003, 07:40 AM I'd be way more interested if it was a V8 Monte. Speaking of which, what is happening to the Monte come 2006-7? Has anyone heard? Guion's post on the Camaro/GTO/Regal was awesome...but does this mean Monte is dead? I assume yes  USHotRod 11-26-2003, 08:18 AM We drive the Impalas as patrol cars at work and Ive always been fairly impressed with how they handle and the interior room. If they were to get the V8 I would definately get one as a family car to complement the Camaro. RWD or no, they are still a nice car. Darth Xed 11-26-2003, 08:28 AM There is not a ton of V8 FWD cars out there right now... so it would give Impala a nice place in the automotive world. AGain, most family car drivers could care less if the car was RWD or FWD, and probably lean toward FWD because of the perception of RWD being impossible to handle in less than perfect weather. Z28x 11-26-2003, 08:31 AM While RWD is more important to me than a V8, This is a huge step in the right direction:thumb: Finally earning that SS badge HuJass 11-26-2003, 08:54 AM Still would have too many doors, no RWD, and no available manual transmission. No thanks. guionM 11-26-2003, 10:12 AM Rumors of a V8 Impala SS? I think not :): "The Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo will get V8s when restyled versions come out for the 2006 model year, dealers were told at the make meeting." http://www.autoweek.com/cat_content.mv?port_code=autoweek&cat_code=carnews&loc_code=index&content_code=09886100 "Chevrolet Monte Carlos and Impalas will get V-8 engines. Z28x 11-26-2003, 11:31 AM THat would be cool if they added AWD to the current cars. I think an AWD 300HP 5.3L V8 Monte Calro would be worth $30,000 jg95z28 11-26-2003, 12:09 PM Only if its RWD and uses the aluminum block 5.3 developed for the SSR. :p Donutboy97 11-26-2003, 12:45 PM Originally posted by Jason E I'd be way more interested if it was a V8 Monte. I assume yes  i think that you could have both. if you have the Monte be the full size rwd coupe and the Camaro be the smaller, sporty rwd coupe. Z284ever 11-26-2003, 02:09 PM I would consider such a car....as long as the torque management issues are cured and it performed well. Although my wife's vehicle typically tends to the kid transport duties....I do have a need for a 5 passenger car that can be used to tote wifey and three kids around in a pinch. And really, I'm not all that bothered about it being FWD either. Of course if I ever got one, it would be the first car I've had for myself (wife's vehicles not included) without a manual trans....in a quarter century. IMPALA64 11-26-2003, 02:28 PM Front drive Impala?? No thanks..I dont care how quick it is. Z284ever 11-26-2003, 02:34 PM Originally posted by IMPALA64 Front drive Impala?? I'll just keep my 8 year old RWD V8 Impala SS :D If anything happenss to it, then I'll consider a GTO or maybe the RWD Regal we're reading about ;) | ||
