spark plugs

I have been noticing for a while, that when I leave for school, the speed limit is 15 mph (school zone) in which I follow..I dont really have to accelerate much, my car stays at 15..but it vibrates and is shakey, it revs up a little bit, then feels like its going to die, and then revs back up again...we put one of those bottle fuel injection cleaners in, didnt help, now we think it needs spark plugs, and a tune up, from the looks of it, the plugs arent the easiest things to get to, whats the easiest way to get to them? and what are the best plugs to go with?

Could be a number of things. When was the last time they were changed? Be glad you don't have a 3.8...very hard to get the spark plugs out of. Grab a repair manual or maybe someone here can help. Bump...

As for spark plugs, you can't go wrong with some stock Delco platinums and they should last you a while. I think they also make Rapidfires in platinum :think:. I use iridium but only because I spray...too expensive for just regular use though.

i changed mine not to long ago, the hardest is on the pasanger side they scratched the He** out of my hands and arms, but nithing major.

Yea, sounds like it could possibly be your plugs. Mine was doin the same sorta thing...almost stalling in low rpms. I took mine into a shop because of a lack of time and it cost almost 5 bills (can $). The plugs they used weren't all that great and i got the AC delco's put back in after that. There working good so far.

Importkiller...your definetly right about the 3.8's being hard to change the plugs!! But look on the bright side, at least its not a 5.7

I'd rather work on a 5.7...easier IMO.

$500 for a spark plug change? I hope they used a lot of KY for that price.

Yea, i was pretty F*ckin choked! Beleive me, i never took my car back there!

make sure to get a new set of wires when you do the plugs. the plugs last a while, but the wires are to be considered a consumable. change your wires every 50k miles on these cars.

How are the 5.7's easier? There isn't a square inch of room in them. I just changed my water pump and I couldn't even imagine trying to do it on an 8.

i changed the plugs on my 3.4 and all of teh plugs can be reached either w/ a ratchet or w/ an extension. the passenger side is the hardest but its noting major. l8tr

I wish I had came to this site sooner...I guess everyone is kinda having the same prob at the same time....I have had the same problem for a while now...I changed the fuel filter got fuel injector cleaner...everything...and darned if it still wasnt doing it.....I get on here and everyone is asking about it. THANKS!

The 3.8's arent that bad for changing the plugs. The key thing is remove the heat sheilds and the right engine lift bracket once they are gone it's really easy.
