can a full bumper car with the wide parking lights underneath the bumper be easily converted to a split bumper with the correct round lights next to the headlights? would you just have to swap the who front clip? would swapping the front clip make the front look exactly like the split bumper camaros? i'm looking for a 70-73 camaro, but i don't like the way the full bumper looks. also, i've seen where people just put the 2 bumpers on a car that had a full bumper, and i think that still looks bad. i want a real split bumper, but since they are harder to get a hold of, i would like to know if the conversion is easy.

I think you would just need the 2 metal nose pieces (upper and lower) which will have the round signals beside the headlights instead of the wide signal lights under the bumper. As well, I believe the "true" split-bumper RS front had a plastic extension that went onto the nose as well? Then, obviously, you would just need the 2 separate chrome bumpers;).

Pretty much the entire front end has to be changed.
Upper and lower valance
turn signals
grills and shell
urethane nose piece (they also make a fiberglass replacement)
bumpers and brackets
lower valance is hard to find, I am not sure anyone is making a rebop for it anymore.. although they do in fiberglass
Everyone wants to do this, so prices are high for the parts, WHEN you can find them!

Camaro Performers magazine from super chevy editors fall issue has the complete list of parts and numbers needed to do this conversion on page 38.

To just ANSWER your question, all you gotta do is unbolt the full bumper and bolt on the RS bumpers. Its that easy.
Will it look right, up to you.
To make a COMPLETE front clip swap, you need the header, valance, same bumper brackets, the correct turn signal lamps, an RS nose, and the special RS nose brackets/grilles/ chrome surround & hood latch.
Ask me, I went from RS to std on my 73 LT.....;)
