Just a little background I replaced my stock Hurst shift stick the other day with a Jarrod short throw.. now I hear a slight whirrring noise while accelerating? Has anyone else ever had this happen? All I did was take off the console, remove old stick and place in new one?? Any advice.. or is this not even worth worrying about? Thanks for the help.

Probably not even worth worrying about. Maybe the SS is a little loose or something. But if thats all u changed and the sound started happening then its either something else. Or probably nothing at all really and now u just started to hear it.

I'm sure you're right.. and that for some reason now I just started to hear it.. I was just curious if anyone else ever noticed it either. Thanks for the help.

I noticed more noise after i did my pro 5.0 and lou's SS. It is definatly louder then the stock shifter.

I find the six speed pretty noisy too. This is my first one so I really have nothing to compare it to. I drove a few six speed vettes before but don't really remember noticing if they were loud or not.

I have the same whirring too on my Jarrod's short stick.
After looking at the factory shifter with the rubber thing down there I just wrote the noise off as being transmitted through the solid stick v/s the rubber stocker.
I think it sounds kinda cool myself :metal:

Thats about the same idea I came up with...... I don't really even notice it anymore.

I had the same noise too when I changed my shifter from stock to a B&M SS. It has a sort of whirring noise when I cover my hand over the shifter ball... its been like that for 2 years now.. so I wouldn't worry about it.

I had the same issue and came to the same conclusion. I also put an aftermarket knob on the short stick, and it seemed to contribute to the noises as well. I put put the factory knob back on and some hard thin rubber washers between the short stick and the base, and it solved the problem, until the vibration chewed up the washers a couple of months later.
I will probably try some other options to lessen the noise, but for now I just put the stock stick back on. My exhaust is stock, so the noise is really annoying in a daily driver.
Some options I've considered are the same rubber washers with hi-temp silicone, Orange Brake pad goo, or maybe some sort of poly-graphite material, like a sliver of a suspension bushings. Something hard enough not to defeat the purpose of billet stick, but somewhat absorb the vibration.l
