dj haf 11-20-2003, 05:36 PM what do i need to do to stop this crap from happening? last night i was racing a mustang and, rolling, my tires spun out of control in drive 1... enough for him to get a good car on me and making me play catchup. i should be getting new tires soon, and that'll fix my traction problem, but i still need to fix my fishtailing problem. anyone got any suggestions?
KnightRider350 11-20-2003, 06:26 PM What kind of suspension mods have you done thus far man?
Subframes/panhard/etc.? Any of that ****?
AutoRoc 11-20-2003, 07:04 PM Install tires that won't spin. If the tires don't spin, the car won't "fishtail".
Or learn how to apply throttle without spinning the tires.
dj haf 11-20-2003, 07:35 PM no suspension mods yet... i was looking for advice on what suspension mods to get though.
autoroc, i know how to apply throttle so i don't spin, but my tires are pretty much worn out so no matter what i do, they spin.
when the tires were fairly new, and i hit it right off the hole, i'd still fishtail, but not as bad... i'd grip and then get off like a bat out of hell. now i just dont go anywhere, lol. was hoping if there were any suspension mods that could correct this problem so i can get off the hole quicker without having to worry about fishtailing
doug791 11-20-2003, 10:15 PM problem = fistailing
solution = put in a smaller cam, maybe stuff some kleenex in your intake plenums anything to make your car less powerful
Seriously though your car wont fish tail if you dont break traction. So youre just looking for any traction mods.

As far as suspension stuff im definitly not the guru youre looking for. I know you can get drag shocks/springs or just put v6 springs in but thatd suck for every day driving the idea there is to soften up the rear and give it more give. Not going to be too much more helpful here.
lil305gta 11-21-2003, 01:13 AM These 2 helped me out a lot. Try installing KYB shocks and struts about $150 for shocks and struts. And an energy suspension bushing kit, I don't remember what I paid for it. Next will be lower control arms, about $120 and then a panhard bar about $120 as well. If you have the money i've heard that a torque arm works wonders but they usually run about $320 on the average.
Z28James 11-21-2003, 07:08 PM Check ebay man. I saw a panhard par go for $10 and i was 13 seconds too late!!!
AutoRoc 11-21-2003, 07:18 PM LCA relocation brackets are probably the best cheap mod out there for traction. Especially if your car is sagging/worn out(it'll crutch the problem. Aftermarket lower control arms from Spohn, and a set of their LCA relocation brackets is in order, along with new shocks out back to keep things stable and possibly even new springs to correct a sagging/worn out condition. Goodluck!
dj haf 11-21-2003, 08:35 PM thanks man :D
82355 11-22-2003, 06:13 PM The very first suspension mod you should do is always sub frame connectors.
Martin
CobraKilla 11-23-2003, 05:28 PM All you need is some sticky tires, then both problems will be solved and you will not have wasted tons of money on other stuff. Sticky tires=no tires spin, no sideways action out of the hole.

Good point made right there. I always assume people just already have them.:)
robvas 11-24-2003, 09:40 AM Nitto or BFG drag radials

LCAs and LCA relocation brakets are the way to go after you get some good meats. I got the tubular BMR ones and like 'em quote a bit.
steve10358 11-25-2003, 12:51 AM Moving to drag racing forum.. I let this go a bit to see what people would say. I'll move it on over, to let others see it. I always ask these types of questions there, and get some pretty strong responses. :)
All the suspension mods in the world will not help if you don't have a good tire. Other than that learn how to drive the car.
dj haf 11-25-2003, 11:26 AM jesus christ. i know how to drive my car, it's just that my tires are bald right now. im getting nitto drag radials soon, i already placed the order. only reason i made this topic is because, even if i have brand new tires, my car still fish tails, but not as bad. i wanted to know of any suspension mods that would keep my rear end str8 and not everywhere else...

I'm not saying that SFC's aren't a good suspension mod, but you can't convince me that they will prevent a car (especially with bad tires) from fishtailing:think:.
IMO, LCA's and LCA relocation brackets will do more to prevent fishtailing than SFC's:rolleyes:. They may be great suspension mods, but they're not the end-all-be-all solution to TRACTION problems. Tires alone will do a world of difference:cool:.
Camaro_Guru16NY 11-25-2003, 11:54 AM Definately Tires man. A good set of nittos or BFGs and all your problems should stop.
Good Luck,

I have stock LCA's on my car along with SFCs, HAL QA1's BMR TA and Eibach Drag Launch Kit and it tracks like it was wire-guided.
I'd think that a good posi unit and tires would be the best initial investment. I haven't found LCAs to be necessary, yet.
