Wiring CD Player

Alright guys well I still can't seem to be getting it to work. I just bought a pyle mp3/cd player. It doesn't turn on with the car, and everytime I shut off the car, and turn it on, it acts as if the battery was disconnected. Each time, all my presets and clock is reset. I want it to turn on when I start the ignition like it should.

Could someone please briefly list the wire matchups by color and +/- ? I know it's a really dumb question, and sorry for being such a n00bie :( ......I've hooked up all the speaker wires correctly. The wires that I'm concerned with are the Reds,Yellows,and Orange I guess...

Right now I have both reds and both yellows all connected as one....probably not the best idea. I have 2 oranges on my car wiring harness that aren't being used, but my deck doesnt have orange wires.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot :cool:

well,u really need the instructions that the cd player came w/ b/c that will tell u what wire is for what. the obviouse ones will be

red-12V power
black-ground

it sounds like u have it wired to the wrong wire that goes to the ignition.

Well it sounds like you used a harness so just make the red and yellow wires seprate connections, you dont want to splice all 4 wires together. If it still doesnt work right use a test light or meter and make sure your getting a constant 12v at the yellow wire and switched 12v on the red wire with the key on. As for the orange wires, I usually rip them out of the harness to prevent an accidental short. It wont hurt the harness to rip them out. Let us know what your results are.

ok this is how it should go yellow is ur ignitionthe yellow on the unit should go to this power orange is ur battery red on ur unit should go here, lt&dk grn are ur right front speakers, tan and gray are the left front. brown and yellow are the back left and lt &dk blue are the right rear usually the darker of the two for the speakers is ur neg. if i missed anything sorry. and let me know i should be able to help

i jus went outside with a multimeter....and I recorded the following:

Red wire ignition off - nothing
yellow wire with ignition off - nothing
red wire with ignition on - normal reading (12v?)
yellow wire with ignition off - nothing

i also checked the actual fuse slot....it registered only when the ignition was on.....dono if thats normal.

so obviously my constant (yellow) isn't getting any juice.

What do you guys suggest I do?

If your positive that all of your fuses are good, then for a last resort you can get a constant 12v from the orange wire from your cigarette lighter. Just double check all of your fuses first.

Ive always had the same problem, id always have to run both my cd-players hot and 12v ignition wire to my cars 12v ignition wire since the red wire wouldnt ever stay hot :/

now..my car is rigged by a toggle switch so i just have to live with it.

red to red (12 volt direct power) should have power when key is on or off.
yellow to yellow(accessory power) should have power when key is on)
black to black (ground)
buy a test light to make sure they have power, a cheap test light is like $5
i just hooked up 4 steroes in like a week, i had alot of problems with getting power to the accessory, it was either fuses in the fuse box, or in one case i had one with 2 hidden fuses behind the head unit behind the dash.

Yea I've replaced both the "radio" and "acc" fuse numerous times....but the yellow 12 constant still doesn't get any reading with or without the ignition on....

If I remember correctly...the ACC fuse also controls the dome light and horn. Those both work fine.

What could be causing my yellow 12v constant to not have any juice???? It's not the fuse, and tomorrow I'm going to take apart the dash and visually look for problems. What exactly should I look for or do to find my problem? Thanks
