i just installed new pads inon my front discs, and i went to check the rears drums while i was at it. however i couldnt get them off. i looked for an adjuster and couldnt seem to find one? is the only way to get them off to bang on them until they finally budge?

Just worked on my friend's car with drums...

...they were a pain too. Keep spraying it with lube.

knock the drum a few times with a BFH, they will break free and you can take em right off

i just had mine off today actually.. i just use a mini sledge.. or a regular hammer.. and bang lightly all the way around the outside edge 1-2 times.. then i take a big scredriver and wedge it between where the drum goes onto the hub.. on the outer rim.. and just turn the screw driver a little.. once you get it loose you should be able to pull it straight off no problem..

I don't know what to say about this but it has worked in the past. Before you start the brake job get going in reverse and stab the brakes, this works if the drum/disc is rusted onto the hub or wheel studs if the drums stuck on the shoes the sledge is the only way to go.

Are you sure there is no adjuster? There should be a punch out on the back side of that backing plate. Just take a flat head screw driver, stick it through there, and back off that little adjuster wheel a few clicks. Then just take a rubber mallet and give the drum a few good taps and she should pop right off.

Its really not very good to use a sledge of any kind to hit the Drum, you might knock it out of round.

a mini sledge like i am talking about is the size of a regular hammer with a heavier sledge looking head on it.. if you beat the hell out of the drum im sure it will throw it out of round but just a few taps wont hurt it any worse than a rubber mallet and will probably work better.. personal preference i guess
