Hot Rod Hawk 11-12-2003, 11:55 AM With that said whats everyone going to get into for projects this winter?
CAR?
HOUSE?
???
I have my fresh'n up on the motor to do on the firehawk and I'm doing Ta Jacks Turbo Impalla upgrade I've named:
"2 TON HEAVY THANG go's into the 11's"
91 Redd Sledd 11-12-2003, 12:34 PM I am currently trying to source parts for my 351 W build for my 79.I actually hve to go to the Plymouth rd store and get some prices on some Diamond or probe pistons for the thing. Then on my 91 I have some issues to work out with N2O.It did'nt quite work like it was supposed to.Lots of other little things to do that I can't think of right off the top of my head.Hey also looking for a Case fill C4 trans if anyone has one laying around.Hopefully the 79 will roll to stanton in the spring.
James
2MUCHZ 11-12-2003, 01:26 PM Just got my forged 355 delivered today in the process of buying a nitrous kit, drop off my heads in the next 2 weeks to get P&P and a few other things cant wait to dig into it......
RedIrocZ-28 11-12-2003, 01:46 PM Despite the court fines, I will attempt to buy and install:
AFR heads ( I know, I've been saying this for 2 years now)
Matched cam to my combo
New distributor/ignition system.
New Fuel pump.
Thats about it. Somehow or another I will get this car to the 12's.
ws6transam 11-12-2003, 02:57 PM Trying to finish off the garage.
$37,000 spent so far. Hopefully I'll be able to host a proper modfest next year when I'm done getting the epoxied (or tiled) floor done.
As for the old Trans Am, I'm hoping to get the Minirammed 385 at least running on the dyno test stand by spring. I need to finish porting the AFR195's that I started this spring, then bolt them onto the shortblock that's been sitting in the bag for a year.
Probably will tidy up the engine compartment. In addition, the suspension needs another rebuild. I'm scrapping the rod ends and switching to polyurethane. Rod ends suck in a street application because they wear out and start banging in only 5000 miles.
Birdie2000 11-12-2003, 04:46 PM Cam
Intercooler
Complete fuel system
Some suspension
Get torque converter adjusted
Freshen motor a little
Possibly get heads O-ringed
Strip some weight off it's porky ass
and a couple more things that I can't think of...
Yeah.... my plate's full for the winter.

97WRAITH 11-12-2003, 06:07 PM Why is that are you doing the same?
Rob.
Rodrigues 11-12-2003, 06:12 PM That was my old setup! Everything you listed except for the welded intake and lowering. Our cars also ran the exact same but you seem to be just as fast when I paid to have my heads done :(

97WRAITH 11-12-2003, 06:22 PM I did my own heads. I have been a toolmaker for about 12yrs and know people who build there own race motors (old school guys) and they gave me pointers on how to do them.I am looking for very low 12's next year on motor.
Rob.
steve40 11-12-2003, 07:51 PM rob, what are you doing to lower the rear end down?
if you guys want you can give me some money to do my list, thou much smaller than all listed
just freshen the tranny and a stall, driveshaft and maybe a torque arm
KGRESOCK 11-12-2003, 08:45 PM Freshen motor a little
And so it begins....:D
Rob,
good call on the OBD1 and nine inch, if I break the 12 bolt again I'm going spool. Sent my intake over with Taner
for a lil work also.
I think it's time we got serious about using the tuner cat
program.
Steve,
You cut the springs to lower the rear.
Kevin
squinn 11-12-2003, 09:32 PM Just looking for some GM LT4 heads to play with.
Anyone have a bare unported set they no longer need?
Birdie2000 11-12-2003, 09:40 PM Kevin,
Are you freshening your motor as well, or are you just poking fun at me? :p :)
If you're freshening up as well, what are you planning on?
BTW Kev, It's looking as though quite a bit of my major work is going to have to be done by the shop I deal with. I don't have any room to pull the rear-end, engine, tranny, etc. in a non-freezing environment. :( :( Any suggestions?
97WRAITH 11-12-2003, 10:14 PM Steve just like Kevin said I am going to cut the springs.Kevin I am still undecided about Locker or spool. How did you like driving Roman's ?
Rob.
Rodrigues 11-12-2003, 10:21 PM You can try out my detroit locker on mine if you want to get a feel for it, I would choose it over a spool instantly. Its VERY streetable...

ur2slow 11-13-2003, 08:01 AM Finishing off my basement before Christmas, turning office into babies room before Jan. 20th for new arrival...baby boy!:D
KGRESOCK 11-13-2003, 09:44 AM Rob,
I didn't care for the spool too much on the street with my
track tires. It felt like the front end was "snowplowing"
on neighborhood corners/driving. Roman tell's me it
behaves much better with street tires, if the weather holds
out I'm going to "test" this weekend. I'll keep you posted
your more than welcome to come over and try for yourself.
Jim,
I'll give you a call over the weekend to discuss.
Kevin
jp2002ls1 11-13-2003, 10:09 AM Hmmmmm the suspension and trans are done, ditching the TPI for a carb setup, long tubes, true duals with glasspacks... all happening in the next few weeks then in late December in goes a new cam. Roll cage is on the wish list for X-mas, this is going to be one crazy vette.
(Good bye 5000 rpm, Hello 6500 rpm!)
Kevyn 11-13-2003, 03:54 PM Like Al, I have a new top end planned too.
I plan to install this stuff (http://www.ls1camaro.net/freehosting/pkg2.jpg) in November. Then I am saving for a 12 bolt. With any luck, I'll get it done by spring.
Victory Racing 11-13-2003, 06:17 PM Finishing up the SBC swap and getting her ready for the new owner.
97WRAITH 11-13-2003, 08:13 PM Thanks for the offer Kevin.I will think about it.Hope the weather is nice so I can go for a ride before I pull the rear end.
Rob.
TA Jack 11-13-2003, 09:17 PM I just have to remember to keep the house payment money separate from the mod money. Oh, what the he11, you can sleep in your car but you cannot race your house.

you said it, its all about the priorities;)
94_Z28_ragtop 11-13-2003, 11:08 PM Man. After being gone for 14 months, I'm not sure where I'll even start when I get back for good in December. Thankfully this little 14 month business trip has allowed me to save up some money.
House: New kitchen, new bathroom. New carpet in living room and hall way. All new living room furniture including complete entertainment system. I'm tired of my house looking like a piece of **** because of the money spent on my cars.
'94 Z28: Possibly pull recently installed heads. Get them flowed to verify numbers. Maybe have them shaved to bring compression up to 12:1. Install line lock already purchased. Install nitrous kit that has been sitting in my garage since May. Possible long tubes??? I have a feeling that the trans will be done after a few nitrous passes. Time to start saving for a TH350 and converter.
'02 Z28: Definitely a new clutch. I'm thinking a Ram clutch set up. Possibly install long tube headers. Install line lock already purchased.
AutoRoc 11-14-2003, 12:01 AM See how many plates I can stack under an intake.:p Thinking Pro-Flow but still looking around... Mini fuel cell up front with pump/regulator/plumbing. LCA Brackets, maybe a set of Moser Axles, more hammering in the wells out back, Rear set of Hal shocks for drag use, install Spohn TQ Arm that's been collecting dust, in-tank pump swap to Walbro 340M that's been sitting around for a couple years. Finish interior, maybe add 2 small 10's in the backseat area somewhere out of sight, repaint rollbar!?! naww...
Oh and install that DRCE doo-hickey I've been finishing. Can't argue with 600+ cubes @ 9000rpm:D Ok that's a PLAN for this winter but I'm looking to be dissapointed with that goal this year. hehe. Still staying small cubed so far but with added Uuuumpfff!:(
Oh! And save some side-dough for the extra bottles of juice for this coming spring/summer.
PGdynamics 11-14-2003, 12:51 PM Bringing back the 85' Trans-am from the crispy P.O.S. it is now. Down to just body and frame now. Needs to get blasted, primered, and painted. Currently searching for 4th gen. ebony interior to switch over. Carbed 383 needs a freshing up so does the 700R4. Gonna be a busy and expensive winter but hopefully it'll all pay off buy the time late July comes around!
TrouserSnake 11-14-2003, 07:44 PM I need help Deciding... My Engine is Going downhill and I need a Rebuild...
I have 4000 to spend and wanna go low 11's

taner 11-14-2003, 09:52 PM well motor and trans have been out for a few weeks, i am hoping mid december to have motor complete and ready for a weekend install at the house :)
then off for a tune with the new DFI, welded / ported LT4 intake :) i am going to go over the heads to see where they are at. how much i do depends o how much they flow! Olivers will be a spinning in the bottom end with some new JE slugs.
the car is going back to Andre for the car to become 9 second legal :) yes the roll bar is goin to become a roll cage.

Yes. How much?
Black Sunshine/ 00SS 11-15-2003, 08:08 PM I'm still working on last years "winter project". LOL.
I guess with the rear end all busted up, I'll be starting there, and add a serious sway bar, maybe an air bag or 2.
Got some new headers that are begging to peform under spray, and maybe I'll finally get to building the exhaust that I have been wanting.
Trying to decide to become legal or not, as far as the roll bar is concerned. For now, I'll be an outlaw:bow: .
A few other things in mind. But I guess I'll start by paying off some bills, before I start anything else.
