Hey im lookn at installing a pioneer 8500mp head unit but keeping everything else stock. Would i be able to run that head unit and still use the stock monsoon amp? if so is there anything i need to know before i install it. Plus my passanger door speaker is blown, so i was thinking of putting in some pioneers speakers as well up front, and maybe some 6x9's in the hatch, if not just some pioneer 4.5" to replace the stock ones. First of all i know the OHM rating is different so would i have to crank it up to hear good sound from the front, while blasting the hell out of myself with the back speakers that are still stock, and second of all could i install 6x9's in the hatch, cuz i took a look and it looked pretty easy. Well i hope i can get this answered
Thx guys

You can swap out the head unit and still us the factory amp without using any odd ball connectors. Just swap as you would with any other car. Dash kit, wiring harness and antenna adapter

I installed an Eclipse hu in my Z,and I got some popping noises whenever I hit the preset buttons on the radio, remote, etc. It was annoying as crap. I had everyone and their mom telling me what to do to fix it,but never did. The internal amp in the radio was intefering with the monsoon amp. I finally talked to a guy on this board (NAVY01Z) who knew what he was talking about. I had to go to Best Buy and buy the InstallEdge Premium System Converter for 40.00. Now that annoying popping is gone. And if you read this Navy,THANKS AGAIN!

The deck will work as they said...

As for putting 6x9's in the hatch dont bother, first off those channels are high passed at about 120hz so the advantage of a large cone speaker (bass) is diminished, besides the fact a round speaker is much better suited to good sound reproduction.. A 6x9 is a kind of "catch all" speaker size to give cars with not a ton of space decent bass with the factory setup. The midbass sound it will play would probably sound muddled compared to a really good set of 4 inch speakers. I'd match em to the 6.5's you get for the front. Maybe add the new subs in the sail panels (Rockford RFP 4406 or JL 6w0).
