nos bottle heater

Anyone have any experience with the nos brand bottle heater? Good/bad? Also, what do you guys think of bottle heaters in general? Let me know, i can get a good deal on one from a friend right now.

Bottle heaters are a must have. I use the NOS heater.

If it's a good deal, jump on it! Most of the people I know using them are happy enough not to complain i guess:) I have an NX heater and that works good also. Can't wait to see some new PB's from that combo you have!

i have been running the same NOS heater for the last 5 years,no complaints EXCEPT for the POS thermostat they send with it.

i threw the thermostat away and just watch the bottle pressure when my heater is on.

A friend of mine is getting me a new one with his discount at work for $70, so its a deal I dont really want to pass up. What advantages are there to running a bottle heater? I would imagine consistancy regardless of how full the bottle is?

without a heater,you will never be able to get good back to back runs with the same pressure,unless it's really friggen hot outside,and then it's a gamble with the pressure.

You really need at least 900psi, and you can't get that if the ambient temp is below 85degF. And, as Dirk points out, after each pass, the bottle will be colder than when you started. The only way to change the pressure is by changing the temperature.

I have had good luck with the NOS heater, but also have discarded the thermostat, which seems to have a life expectancy of about 5 minutes. If you run without the thermostat, be sure you have a pressure gauge, so you can shut it off before the pressure gets too high.

How do you know when the thermostat is giving your problems? Just doesnt come on at all?

Yup.

DONT buy an NOS bottle heater.. The Thermostats are crap... The only way to go is with the NX pressure controlled bottle heater. It runs off of bottle pressure, and not temperature, so your pressure is always right, and you don't have to stick 2 pOS thermostats under the velcro like on NOS's....

Go with the NOS heater and get a few people together and switch out the thermostats. The stock stats are set to heat to ~85*. You can get 95* stats (= about 1000-1100 psi) from Portage Electric (same company that makes the stats for NOS). You just have to have a minimum order of $100 which is 20 stats. Put two on, keep two as backups, and sell the other 16. I can give you the specs (you have to have them to order) if you like. Finally got mine all hooked up and am consistently at 1050 psi :D

the NX heater is a neat idea,if the only the transducer wasnt a POS. Few friends have had multiple problems with the transducers and have since thrown them away and just watch the pressure.
