Best deep cycle battery for the $$$$$?Cerwin Vega Fan 11-09-2003, 12:11 PM Yeah I need a new battery. It seems now everything on my car has just decided to die. :mad: I'm looking for a deep cycle battery to handle the stereo system. I want a strong one so that it handle any upgrades I make later down the road. Of course almost everyone knows what a Yellowtop is but I was wondering are their any other good deep cycle batteries to compete with the Yellowtop like Lighting Audio and Rockford Fosgate stuff. They were both around $130 just depends if size and weight is an issue the optima is twice the size of the stinger and weighs around 10 more pounds Cerwin Vega Fan 11-10-2003, 04:23 PM OK guys tell me this, I heard that if you get a battery that has to much power it may damage the starter. Only issue is the Optima batteries aren't a true deep cycle battery. Ask anybody who's ran them dead and they'll tell you they aren't. I know there are some true deep cycle batteries out there, just don't know where to find them at. Red tops are NOT, but the Yellow/Blue tops are a true deep cycle battery.. I've ran plenty of then dead, and I mean dead multiple times and never had a problem.. but if you run a red top dead, you've killed it... GoghUA 11-11-2003, 04:29 PM I have been running an Exide Select Oribital battery for probably 2 years now without any problems. I did have to replace the starter, but I don't think that was at all related to the battery. My car does have 105,000 miles on it. I have never had a problem with running my two amps and all my other accessories at once. The Exide is essentially the same as the Optima. If I remember correctly when I did my research, almost the only difference was about 2 minutes of reserve capacity. Oh yeah, and most importantly was the price. The Exide will be MUCH cheaper than the Optima. Here are some links for you to check out... This is the newer version of the battery I have.
