Smile 394 flywheel HP BMW 540 VS 94 juiced Z28, place your bet

this saturday night, i will race against a BMW 540, he claimed that he has 394HP at the crank, and that he ran 13sec flat in the 1/4. well, that is all i know about his car. he will also be running street tires.

as for me

i only have:

- free mods
- no CAT
- dynomax muffler
- edelbrock TES headers (shorties)
- SLP CAI

PLUS, i have 75 shot of wet shot. (stock jetting, 3200-5600RPM)

do you think i stand a change? he's a cool guy, but i still wanna win.......what do you think??

thanks

WOW, you will need to spray! And get a cutout installed and open it up for the race! It will help alot especially since you have headers already.

You will win if you don't blow the launch!

Good luck !

I sincerely doubt a 394hp 540i will be able to run a 13. Why? because a 450hp with 9.5lbs only runs a 12.581@113.86mph.

540i is a fast car, but unless he's got mega mods with a lot more horsepower than that there's no way in hell he's running a 13.

So you know I'm pulling my numbers from this guys wbesite: http://www.jimmy540i.com/californiaspeedway.htm

It sound like you're racing an M5, which indeed runs low 13's. I don't know much about LT1s, but your best bet is to run from a dead stop. Up top those things become stronger competitors. Good luck.

m5 and 540i are two different cars with different engines. M5 is, stock, faster than a 540i.

the race will be from a dead stop. i dont race on the highway anymore, there are too much risk. i found an empty, straight road for us to race. thanks for all the support, i will keep you guys updated on the race results.....

one thing that made me rather confused, he told me that he owned a 96 Z28 once, and then he also told me that underdrive pulley is a major mod?? i highly doubt that an underdrive pulley will give a major gain....what do you guys think??

For the price an underdrive pulley won't hurt My car has one but I never put it on first, the previous owner did

I race at that track those numbers are damn good for Fontana. The DA at that track is usually 4000+ ft (during the summer season it was usually 98+ deg F with 29.93-29.99"Hg at 1100 ft above sea level ). Corrected that time would be an 11.8-12.0 @ 120ish. The best I've run there is a 13.739 @ 101.77 w/a 2.199 60' (LID and K&N as only mods). Corrected for track conditions (3984DA) that's a 13.06 @106.79. I was 307rwhp at the time (~360fwhp).

If the 540 you are racing is really only 55HP less than that supercharged one, he would be about 0.7 secs slower. The 394HP 540i would therefore be capable of high 12s. I'd invest in a 150 shot.

M5 = 394 hp
540i = 282 hp

BIG difference.

I think you're gonna have a rough time beating him. Definitely go from a stop and hope he blows the launch. I think he may pull you up top.
