Motor Trend GTO Test - VIDEO INSIDE!
Motor Trend GTO Test - VIDEO INSIDE!
I was lucky enough to catch this show on Speed TV today, they did a test of the new GTO. They got a 13.62@105 out of it. I think if you throw on some Drag Radials and a cutout and you'll see low 13's easy! Might be time to trade my wifes Civic
Here is the video, enjoy! I can't host it forever, so get it while you can!

The GTO is living up to the hype. It'll be great having a head to head against the new Stang.
The funny thing is the GTO is actually a closer competitor type car to the stang than the Fbody was. They're almost identical in size, stance, and weight.
Maybe we don't need another Corvette-lite camaro.

Yeah, what Garage Inc said...
The more praise I hear about this car, the more I like it (great video; thanks alot!)
As for the 'bland' styling, that's just a matter of taste - I <still!> occasionally get 'Batmobile' comments directed at me when driving my current T/A
- this never happened when I drove the '88. The GTO's minimalist approach may prove to equal mass market appeal, stopping to buy (or just see) the GTO, and maybe considering Pontiac's other offerings.
(kinda funny, but after years of doing just that, BMW seems to be going the other way, with mixed results (read:
).
Besides, all this "The GTO looks boring" talk will probably die down once the light turns green - it did with the Grand National anyway...

Im personally not a fan of the styling for the GTO nameplate, but that is my biggest beef with it. Everything else seems to be really nice about the car. I love the interior on it, and would love the 5th gen's interior to be somewhat similar ideas.
BTW anyone notice how long the vid was? 4:54, get it? 454 cu in.

Plus, off topic, you think maybe they are going to use the GTO styling for Pontiac's return to NASCAR?
Cool vid (I obviously missed that show
) but I'm really not overly "impressed" or "taken" by the GTO
. I think it's way too similar to the now-retired styling of the Pontiac Grand Prix, and considering the Grand Prix and Grand Am always looked so similar anyway, why would they build a 3rd Pontiac that looks the same?!
Also, on the performance aspect, there's nothing to "oooh" or "aaaah" about, because it's the same old LS1 that we've been driving for 6-7 years (the only positive thing is that GM is still going to build more than 1 car with this engine
).
I'm not necessarily putting down the GTO, but I definitely won't be getting in line at the dealership to order one. I'm happy with my Z28, and the only other car(s?) from GM that *may* get my attention are the new Corvette C6, an existing 405HP Z06, or a NEW Camaro if it ever makes a come back
