Mister Will 11-03-2003, 05:33 PM I would like to hear/see some suggestions for rims. I have the OEM chrome 16 in. rims. It will be time to replace the tires soon ( hope to make it past the 1st of the year). I was thinking of upgading to 17 in. rims and 275/40/ZR17 tires. Chrome or polished look excellent with my paint color(see sig). I was thinking of American Racings 200S. But to be honest, I don't relish the idea of constantly polishing them. ZR1 from SLP are chrome. They look nice, but those rims are really yesterdays news.
I would like to see what everyone else may have or be considering presently. Price is a consideration, but looking is free.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. Already posted in the appearence section. Not much of a response. Thought I would try here. Since my car is a LS1 4th. gen.
Knowklew 11-03-2003, 05:35 PM Chrome Z06 rims are what i want....but i dont have the cash for them right now:(

96SFLZ 11-03-2003, 06:55 PM They're far from cheap but the FM/5s are the best looking wheels I've ever seen.

I believe they're about $650-700 a piece (for the 17x9.5).

KungFu 11-03-2003, 08:56 PM I love my Fikse Fm/5's :D
Z06 Motorsport wheels.
if i only had the money
95GRNZ 11-03-2003, 09:52 PM The only ones I'm considering for my car are the chrome 10-spoke SS rims.
There's just something in them which appeals to me...
Then maybe Z06's. Genuine or replica, doesn't matter to me. ;)
Have to be chrome, though! :D

psychocabbage 11-03-2003, 10:19 PM I personally just want black wheels.. fits with my all black car.. Either black powder coated or black anodized would be best..
Yes.. I shall do that some day.. some day soon.. hmm.. but I prefer 5 spoke wheels like the C5s run.. Thin spokes.. hard to find in 16" wheels tho.. I dont want 17's.
Mister Will 11-03-2003, 11:14 PM Thanks everyone. Keep those opinions coming.
I have a question which is a little off topic. How does the weight of Z06 and 10 spoke SS wheels compare to ZR1 wheels ( 96 - 99? SS) Thanks again.
Ferocity02 11-03-2003, 11:24 PM I like the C5 wheels, they are just clean, crisp, simple, and cheap. Not a big fan of the Z06 wheels though, not sure why.

i have the C5s they look great, lots of compliments, the other wheels i've seen posted are nice too. Chrome is wonderful, i just wipe off the brake dust with my finger, no cleaner no water. But retro, don't spend too much money on them. Z06s are a steal, some how they cost less than C5s. I wouldn't get the ZR71s cause they are "yesterdays news" also depends on the look u want ur car to have.
silv3rsw33t 11-04-2003, 08:21 AM HRE 545's look best IMHO :)

Hey zoom, you don't happen to have any pictures do you? I was going to recommend the C5s as they're what I hope to get next summer; I have a thing for nice 5-star rims. Just curious on how they look on our cars, let me know if you have some pics, thanks.
Jilly 11-04-2003, 09:51 AM I like my Y2Ks. :)

chuck 11-07-2003, 03:51 PM I have had a bunch of different OEM wheels on my T/A:
2002 WS6 wheels (http://chuckb.1le.net/racing/bmw_club/03-08_09-03/ta_msr.jpg)
Grandsport 17x11's all around (http://24.219.29.88/ta_pro_solo.jpg)
Firehawk wheels (http://chuckb.1le.net/racing/scca/010503_houston/ta_autox.jpg)
2001 Camaro SS wheels (http://chuckb.1le.net/racing/scca/08_09-10_03_divisional/images/DSC_0153.jpg)
And of course:
OEM 16" chromies (http://chuckb.1le.net/01_trans_am/images/dscn0232.jpg)
I still own and use the Firehawks (street) and Grand Sports (race).
Ken S 11-07-2003, 06:43 PM be interesting to see how a lightweight 5 spoke 17x10 with 275's, or maybe even 17x10.5 with 275's would handle like.. with the lil extra width of the rim keeping the tire a bit more square..
Mister Will 11-12-2003, 09:32 PM Thanks for all the input people. I had bought 275/40/ZR17 BFGs g-Force KDWs mounted on chrome Z06 rims this afternoon. The rims are reproductions of course.
Just last week I had an Eibach Pro-kit with Bilsteins installed. I ordered the tires and rims while I was waiting on the install. I really like the ride, very flat and solid. I have only driven it home since the whole package was install. But it's all good.
