Is it track legal to run nitrous line through the interior?

Maybe someone can give you an "offical" answer, but I believe it would be legal, since plenty of people legally mount there bottles in the interior compartment of the car.

Pretty sure that it is legal... my bottle is mounted on the humb that the tranny/driveshaft goes ubder, lol... right behind the seats, inbetween the rear seats. :)

yes it's legal. some guys say it isnt,but there is not anything in NHRA's rulebook saying you cant.
i have mine run through the interior up the passenger side,under the carpet.

I am one that have always heard that is not legal to run. I am not saying what I heard is right but the question I have is if it is legal to run the line in the interior why do you have to have a blowdown tube on the bottle. If the line broke or split wouldnt it be roughly the same thing as if the pressure made the blowoff valve open on the bottle? I have mine outside the car by the way and I have never been asked by any tech if its inside or out of the car they just want to see my blowdown tube and make sure it is routed outside of the car which it is :)

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but the blowdown tube is to "hopefully" vent excess pressure from the bottle so it doesn't blow the back of your car off if it builds too high (note, I said vent the BOTTLE, not the lines. big difference). About the only thing you'de get if you ruptured a line inside the car is a case of the giggles for a little while and rotten egg smell, but you certainly wouldn't get killed. Now if the BOTTLE ruptured from over pressure... Well, lets just say you could pretty much cancel Christmas if you were in (or even near) the car at the time... :eek:

I would rather have the line inside the car than outside exposed to the elements. I was going to run it along side my fuel lines, but my fuel lines get pretty damn close to my headers at a few points along the frame, and I dont want nitrous line down there as well if I can help it. I think I will run it through the interior, and if any techs have a problem with it I can always move it. It doesnt seem like they could stipulate that nitrous line cannot be in the interior to me either, as it would have to be inside the car at one point or another (coming off the bottle nut and down to the floor is at least 8-12" of line inside the car).

Yep, that's what I was thinkin... ;)

I didnt say not having a blowoff valve on the bottle :) Your bottle will have that no matter if you have the blowdown tube or not. The blowdown tube just vents it out of the car in case your bottle does exceeds the pressure. So it would be the same thing if you didnt have a blowdown tube on your car if it did open to let the pressure out of the bottle as if your line ruptured and your bottle emptied inside the cockpit.......true????????

If I were a street racer and drove around with my bottle open I might be worried, but the bottle will only be open during 1/4 mile passes and closed between rounds.
