Eric L 10-24-2003, 12:38 AM Will I ever be happy with my exhaust!?
Lets see the progression...
in chronological order its been
1. Flowmaster replacement.
2. Cutout w/ 1.
3. Mac Midlengths, ORY, w/ 1 and 2.
4. True duals over the axle with 2 flowmaster mufflers and #3.
5. Throw a pair of carsound cats on #4.
6. Now I have a pair of bullets on order to replace the flowmasters.... maybe now i can be done... lol... Till I get QTP headers :)
How many times have you all changed your exhausts?
camaro6 10-24-2003, 02:07 AM I've done 1 i guess. I went from my stock exhaust (v6) to another stock exhaust(WS6):o. Pics in sig of the ws6 exhaust on a camaro.
Projectz28 10-24-2003, 06:55 AM twice for me. When I first bought the cr the Flowmaster cat back and a cutout was probably the first thing I did. 2 years later I got bored with it and slapped on a set of LT's and a custom Y pipe.
Number 3 is comming this winter... hmmmm lets see. I think a set of bullets hanging off of the headers will enough. (trying to be weight friendly;) ) or maybe just a turndown only bolted to the header flange. Any thoughts?
Eric L 10-24-2003, 08:50 AM throw a Xpipe on there with bullets after the x, turndowns before the axle.... hmmm power
njspder 10-24-2003, 03:42 PM stock, then stock with a 40series flowy, then a borla+edelbrock TES+ !cat, and finally my favorite, edelbrock TES + !cat + flowy 1chamber. it was a short system that ended in a turn down jsut before the rear axle. sounded mean as hell and was about 40-45lbs lighter than anythign else that was ever on teh car :)

Andrew Coats 10-24-2003, 06:07 PM I went from just a flowmaster to Hooker LT's and a Borla. Oh yeah there is a cutout if I really want it to sound obnixous!
GM98Z 10-24-2003, 06:24 PM For me I have only changed mine 4 times, and am thinking about doing it again.........sometimes I piss myself off!:p

steve10358 10-24-2003, 07:31 PM 2x. But only cause my first rotted off. I had bought it for the tips, but it was off a car driven in the winter.
I really don't see a reason to changing exhaust. 3 inch is big enough for anybody, and really, afterall- it's just an exhaust.
:)

I'm personally (and i suspect are most people who keep changing) looking for the tone i want.. not the power... :) If i wanted power I'd have a supercharger lol
Mike383LT1 10-25-2003, 09:15 AM twice for me went from mac midlenghts and flowmaster cat back to hooker long tubes and mufflex 4 inch.ungodly loud on a forced inducted car sounds good makes prostreet cars stop and look
TaylnStorm 10-27-2003, 01:45 PM I just helped my friend put in some Kooks long tubes in his LS1 and they slid in like butter. I would highly recomend you get those.
Eric L 10-31-2003, 08:36 PM Ahh.. going from no cats and flowmasters... to cats and bullets... my mph went from low 110's to high 110's almost 111... :)
Stormman 11-01-2003, 09:57 AM Went from stock to loudmouth. Install was a breeze on my bro-in-law's lift. Couldn't be happier with it.
syndr0me 11-04-2003, 11:38 AM SLP Long Tubes, 3" Straight Pipes, Flowmaster catback and my god it sounds lovely... Ive gotten compliments left and right, and EVERYONE so far with FLP headers and similar cat back systems say the SLP's sound better
Fastbird93 11-04-2003, 12:01 PM Once for me. Bought the car with a flowmaster muffler installed. Changed to my ASM/Random Tech Cat & Cat back setup.
I will however within the next 2-3 weeks be moving to an ORP with a cutout for the full effect.
96speed 11-04-2003, 07:01 PM 4+ club here.
1 - Stock with a Random Tech muffler/cutout (too small)
2 - Mufflex 4" (too loud)
3 - Stock muffler (too quiet and small)
4 - Borla - just right :D

Laymaster 11-04-2003, 10:34 PM Twice.
First I put on a hooker aerochamber. Then later I upgraded to a Borla Catback.
rskrause 11-06-2003, 06:44 AM I voted "once" but I guess it's really twice. First was a Borla cat-back. Then AS&M midlengths with Random Tech dual high flow cats. Other than poor plug access (though better than stock) I am happy with my setup. I may go to long tubes some day, but there's no hurry at this point as my problem is getting it to hook, not making hp.

john97z28 11-07-2003, 11:48 AM From stock I went:
1. Flowmaster American Thunder
2. SLP Loudmouth
3. JBA Headers
I bought a set of Jet-Hot Longtubes and Hooker Y-pipe that are waiting to be installed. I had a recent "incident" which mangled my Loudmouth. So when it is all said and done:
4. Jet-Hot Longtubes
5. Borla
97silverz28 11-07-2003, 06:52 PM Changed it once. Put on a Hooker cat back & have been happy ever since!
