Can I program the car to eliminate misshifts? (lock unwanted gears)

Heres the story: my tranny came down 3 times and is now being replaced just because of the 4 misshifts that I did all from 2-1 instead of 2-3 (I have a manual tranny ofcourse). Now a new tranny is going in (under warranty thank god).

On my terrible way back home, I remembered that my skip shift light comes on at a certain time (usually in low rpms in 1st gear)and it locks me out of 2nd gear forcing me to shift from 1st to 4th on normal driving conditions.

So I thought, is there a way I could program my car to lock the 1st gear in racing conditions (just like how the skip shift locks 2nd gear entirely) that way the only way im going from 2nd gear is to 3rd or 5th to prevent unwanted redlining damage to the car? Basically what im saying is could I have the car programmed to fully eliminate mis-shifting into unwanted gears??

Could this be done? Please tell me if this is duable and who can do this and how?

Anything is doable, but it would be a PITA. Cheap alternative?? LEARN TO DRIVE! ;) One way to learn to hit 3rd gear better is to aim for a specific part on your dash (most leftward climate control knob on '97+ cars works well) and act like you're punching that part of the dash everytime you shfit to 3rd. I never had a problem hitting third, but I've been told this works. :)

Thanks for the response. I lost confidence in myself. I need to have the car help me out.

I already bought a short stick as well as a Pro 5.0 shifter, but again I want to try to eliminate the problem if possible. Not just minimize it.

Tranny must not come down again.

Not sure if this (http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=152717) guy ever got it figured out or not. I think this was the last time this was brought up in here.
I suppose I could go try it in my car and see if I can figure anything out. But if I break something....:D

A shifter might help... or....

Get a plate and do a console like the ferraris ;)
