my tranny is slipping again. this time, it's not as bad, it still shift normally, but at WOT from 2nd to 3rd it's kinda slipping. the RPM went to 5800, then bumps again to 5500 then went up again to 5800 then shift to 3rd. is this slipping? or this crappy 4L60E shift normally but just had a bad day? any comments or opinions?

thanks a lot

I got scammed by a tranny shop that charged me, but never really fixed the problem, then they always had excuses, and wouldnt back their warrantee saying they couldnt find anything wrong with it. now it slips at anything over 1/4 throttle....

sorry to hear that man.

my tranny is not slipping anymore, i dunno why

maybe because it was hot, andmy tranny fluid is also hot. who knows? all i know is that my tranny does not shift nice and firm. it shifted kinda sluggish and slow.....i'm still worried though :(

I have a similar problem. I got a tranny rebuild after i bought the car at 73k. The trans was making a whining sound and they fixed it with the rebuild which took 2000 bucks out of my pocket. It was fine all summer then in the fall the revs would start bouncing up and down then settling down when it would shift into 4th at around a slow 30-35 mph. The shifting felt different too and out of wack. It would only do the rev bounce when the water temp was warm. It would go away here and there but then come back, tranny place would say i don't really know what it is, i would get pissed off. They calibrated tourque converter and fixed the leak and said that should fix it. week later happening again. Now they say hanging valve and to come back in so they can keep my car for a couple of day and take out tranny and look at it. I've been back and forth to the place about 5 times and gettin sick of it.

its the beginning of winter right now so it cool out and i really don't have the rev bounce problem and i clean the fuel injectors which seemed to help a little bit, but at 30-35mph in 4th gear when the revs drop down after shifting it should go to 1500 right away, but it goes to 1900then a split second later to 1700 then another split sec it goes to 1500 where it supposed to be. Its got me.

if anybody has a good idea of what it is then drop me a line cuz i'm lost and maybe i could tell the dang tranny place what is wrong for them.

Hey Guys think about it your 4l60e is a good trans but a lot of rebuild shops dont know how to rebuild it right. Im the guy who tools the machine called a lamb, the cases are produced with in microns of tolerance. the avaerage shop has no way to find out if the problems are from the case or the internal parts. Parts such as the soup bowl. First part in has a lot to do with 1-2 shifts.
So if your going to replace the trans buy a new from GM Powertrain. The FF model or LP, is the one to buy. Ive seen these for as little as 1300.00 new. There not rebuilds, there assembly line over builds, some have had to be taked apart to change a internal componet( input or pump) to make them quality parts.
Stop spending your hard earned cash on rebuilt or slighly fixed trans. GM sells the best new in the box converter and all.
At Toledo Powertrain we have been no 1. for the last 5 years.I worked on the high tech assembly lines, build proof, error proof, world class. I have 25 years there and no one can do it better.
I have a Z28 LS1, no where your comming from. Dont get took with a so called rebuild on a trans that hashad its days.
Thank you
