Just wondering if you guys think an aftermarket Y-pipe is worth it?I thought since I have a pretty free flowing exhaust now, I should probably replace that flat stock Y-pipe. What kind of horsepower increase should I expect? 5-10? Also, which brand should I go with? Thanks

I would def replace that y-pipe, usually there are claims of 5-10hp diff, I day at least that. But if ur going to do headers, I would wait.

An aftermarket y-pipe MIGHT be worth 5 hp on 98'-99' cars, but even then, they're hard to justify for the price. Pretty much though, they're useless. Just save your money, and get a good set of LT's and ORY. ;)

I've heard mixed results on the power pick up (average gain of 3-5HP), but all agree it makes the exhuast sound deeper. I think if you can find a used one for sale it's worth it (I think someone's selling a used one over at LS1.com for $125 shipped).
Knowklew,
I don't suppose you have any soundclips from your set up?? I'll be installing an SLP y-pipe/Dynomouth combo this weekend and am curious as to how it will sound?

Well on my 2000 SS I saw pretty good results! Besides a better less raspy exhaust there was a nice SOTP difference too. The 99 and earlier cars use a more restrictive cat on the right side so that is most likely why they see less gain.
