Central Florida shops.......

I'm looking for a reputable shop that does good work especially on differentials, in the Central Florida area. Preferably in the south part of Orlando.

Ken's is a full service shop so he might. Just call and talk to Ken Wells, the owner. He did my gears & Torsen T2R install and did a performance rebuild on my automatic transmission.

Yeah, I just called them today. They sound very professional, and very helpful. I gave them a call and I'm going to drop of my car there tomorrow. But Ken won't be there because he's going to a Chevy show for the weekend.

I fully back Ken's shop as we currently use them for all of our 4L60E/ 700R4, and rear end work

I have another question.

If I want to upgrade my gears at Ken's shop, do I have to bring it with me, or can he order them for me? Or if he can, would be cheaper to order them online or from him or same price?

Question Jeff, Ken's place is right down Colonial from me, you mention a "performance rebuild" on your auto tranny? What does that entail/do, and what did it run you?

He prefers to supply the parts for warranty reasons. With that said I supplied everything for my swap but he insisted on genuine GM gears.

I honestly can't outline what all is involved but I know my 94 had some known weak components that he swaped out. He was glad to show me all of the old parts and explain what he put in. I also believe a lot of it has to do with the quality of the parts he uses. He also installed a Trans Go shift kit and a new stock stall speed converter. All total it was a little over $1,500.

Just curious, how much did Ken charge you for a gearing change?

He also said around $700 for a complete rebuild of the rear end if it was needed?? Does that sound right?:(

I can't remember the break down off the top of my head but the total cost was around $1,200. This included a new differential or posi unit, new gears, new bearings and the labor. The axle bearings were not replaced so he may be including that in a full rebuild price. I supplied all of the parts and had them just do the labor. I think the labor was in the $350 to $400 range so $700 doesn't sound too bad including parts.

You might call Advanced Driveline like mrr23 suggested just to get a comparison. They have been in business a long time and have a good reputation as well.

Damn that's a lot. I'll probably keep stock gears then for a while. I'll ask him about it anyways.
