This is a promo from a friend of mine, read:

Hello people of BC-TFB

My name is Dan and I am the director of www.vancouvertuner.com. The site will be launched in the coming weeks, and will be an online community for enthusiasts of all types of cars to come together and help promote the tuning scene in Vancouver. We want to take the focus off of illegal street racing and put it back where it belongs - on the cars.

We were recently given an opportunity by MTV Canada to put together a show on the tuning scene in Vancouver, and want to make the most of it to promote local clubs and enthusiasts in a positive light. We will be holding an informal meet in North Vancouver on October 19th to do the filming, weather permitting. The timeline will be from about 12-4, with everyone showing up to set up around 11am. There are two categories of cars we are looking for. First off we want cars with crazy audio and video systems. This includes custom installs, DVD players, anything loud that sounds good. Second, we are looking for heavily modified performance cars. We are looking for a good representation of the scene, so all cars are welcome to show up. There will of course be an emphasis on the extreme. People with hydraulics are especially welcome!

Now to the point - we want to extend an invitation for your club’s members to join in the filming of this show. I am asking that all interested participants RSVP as soon as possible so appropriate arrangements can be made, and so we can keep entrants together with their respective clubs. This is a great opportunity for local clubs to get FREE TELEVISION EXPOSURE. This event is 100% free and everyone is encouraged to attend, regardless of whether they are entering. For those interested, please email a photo and a brief description of car modifications to vancouvertuner@telus.net.

The show will tentatively be held at Centennial Theater in North Vancouver, and all entrants will be emailed as soon as it is confirmed (provided I have their email addresses). If you would prefer to organize entrants from your club yourselves, this would be much appreciated. Regardless, the sooner you can send me a list of who will be showing their cars, the easier you will make this for me.

Thank you for your help, and hopefully we will see many of you there! If you have any questions, please email me at the above mentioned address, and make sure you check out www.vancouvertuner.com in the coming weeks!

Thanks for your help,

Just got an update from my friend:

Hey everyone, sorry it took soo long for the confirmation email. Regardless, here it is at last. Remember this even is going on as long as it IS NOT RAINING. There's a number on there you can call to confirm, but please call Sunday morning only!!!

Thanks, and as always if you need any more info just email me.

OFFICIAL UPDATE FOR MTV CAR SHOW!!!!

The location for the show is at Heywood Park parking lot. It is a smaller lot, but the background is more appropriate for filming. Please note this event is NOT going on if the weather is miserable. To find out the morning of, please call 604.418.2664 to hear a recorded message. Please call Sunday Morning only!!!

Heywood Park is located at right beside Rogers Video at 972 Marine Drive. This is in North Vancouver.

If you are taking the Second Narrows follow the highway until you reach the Westview Exit. After taking the exit, turn left at the lights and follow them until you reach the second set of lights which forces you to turn left or right. Turn right and follow Larson Rd down until you see Rogers Video on the right (Larson turns into 16th Street). Turn right on the street Rogers is on (Hamilton Ave.). It is the first parking lot on the left past Rogers.

If you are coming over Lions Gate Bridge, follow Marine Drive until you see Rogers Video on the left. Turn left and head North up Hamilton Ave. Again it is the second driveway on the left.

Please be there between 12 and 12:30. This will give us time to set everyone up, and for everyone to shine up their rides. Anyone wanting to come earlier please feel free, we could use the help! The producer for the show (Joey Case) will be showing up with a camera crew around 1pm.

To sum up some questions people have regarding the shoot, here is some additional information: The show this is being filmed for is “Select”. You can see additional information by visiting MTV Canada’s website. The show is to represent the tuning scene in Vancouver. Basically it will showcase performance modifications and custom stereo installs people have in their rides. THIS IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE A SHOWCASE FOR STREETRACING IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM!!! I cannot stress this enough! This is an opportunity to expose the scene for what it really is in Vancouver, so I hope you will all make the most of it. With that said, there are some rules I have to lay down. It is all common sense and stuff you all would follow anyway, but just to make it official:

No street racing
No speeding to or from the event

No drifting
No aggressive driving of any nature

No burnouts

Regarding who will be interviewed: Separate emails will be sent to those I have arranged to be interviewed. Keep in mind the MTV crew has not seen anyone’s cars yet, so they will likely talk to many people other than the ones I email. If you have something you really want to say or are dying to be interviewed, EMAIL ME ASAP and I will see what I can do for you.

Last but not least, we can still use additional cars. If your friends have souped up rides please tell them to come out, and RSVP me AS SOON AS POSSIBLE at vancouvertuner@telus.net . Right now I could use some better representation from VW, Honda, Mazda, SUV’s, and even lowrider trucks if anyone knows of some. Of course EVERYONE is still welcome to show their ride, the more the better.

Thanks everyone for all your help! I will see you all on Sunday. Please email me back to confirm you are coming, and forward this to all your friends. Please also bring a can of food for the food bank.
