Idiot in a STI will bet me a 100 bucks to race 0 to 125!

Does he even stand a chance. His car is totaly stock, dont they run 12.9s stock? Is this guy crazy or what? What would it take to get a New STI into 11s?

Be careful with these. My wife has the regular WRX and they can be made to make insane amounts of power with a few mods. He could easily throw on a manual boost controller and you'd never know. I would race him from a stop and don't look back because he may be closer than you think.

If he truly is stock, and going by the mods on your webpage, you will destroy him. Make sure you have some good tires if you're going from a stop. Since you're racing to 125 though, I think you will pass him way before that point, even if he gets you on the launch.

The faster you go, the more of an advantage you have.

Don't know how the STi's differ, but there was a guy here with a WRX that had all the bolt ons, piggy back ecu, basically everything but a bigger turbo and he was still in the looooooooow 13s. Like 13.0s.

In any case, even if the STi is better than the WRX I don't think you'll have a problem.

That says it all. To 125, unless you totally and I mean totally bomb the launch, you should easily be 100 dollars richer.

Sounds like this guy needs a reality check.

STI's are nice cars, but won't hang with you.

He will be in 5th gear and the highest I have seen a stock STI trap is 105.....I am sure your well into the 111-115 range so you should kill him pretty bad

run him for slips... tell him you need a good winter beater...

Yeah as long as you get a decent launch you will be fine. Going to 125 though i think you will take him even if your launch is crap. They do run high 12's low 13's stock but that is with a good driver. Even though it is awd, you can screw up a launch and totally bog your car.

Does he know what you have?

Unless he has a garett GT series turbo or at very least a PE 1820 tuned you should not have a problem.

It probably isnt hard to get an STI into the 11's but the aftermarket hasent yet caught up to the cars potental.

It differs from the normal WRX beacuse of variable valve timing and a bigger 2.5 liter semi closed deck block with forged internals, It also has a bigger twin scroll VF series Turbo. In short the motor was made to handle some power. Some predict the motor can support upwards of 600 hp without even opening the engine.

Unless this is the guy i dont think you should have any problems...

With a 10 PSI D1, he should be trapping AT LEAST 125+. 111-115 is stock headed/cammed - mild porting and small cam LT1 territory.

Well its on for sunday and now its up to 200 buucks:D . Time to go buy some 110octane, and cook some rice. Not to worried about the launch I will granny it till the upper part of 2nd. It might not be this guys fault..........When i test drove a WRX the salesguy made me think that they were THE BEST CARS EVER MADE!!! They plug that info into your head until you believe it. I was with my brother when i went but as soon as my brother drove a camaro..................he knew where the power was....:cool:

It's definitly the guy's fault if he fell for it. Salesmen are trained to feed any line of BS to the customer to get them to buy a car. ANYONE who goes to purchase a new vehicle without researching it themselves first is a total sucker, in my eyes. I think most car salesmen are total scum as well, but we'll save that for another time.

Case in point, recently a guy made a post on DSMTalk about his new 2003 Eclipse GTS... he was raving on how he thought it was extremely fast and estimated that it probably ran low 13's. Boy did he get a wake up call when everyone brought him back to reality that he had a 15 second car... he said that the salesguy had told him that the GTS was faster than the newer Camaro Z28s. :rolleyes: Anyone who is suckered into believing their 200hp sport-economy car is faster than a 325hp muscle car shouldn't be allowed to buy a performance car to begin with.

Yea, some guy I know has has a bone stock sti. He didn't know how to launch the awd so at the track he ran a 14.6 or so I forget. I thought that was very unrespectable for that car. It should be in mid 13's on a bad day. Good luck.

If he isn't used to the awd he could easily blow the launch. If he doesn't half clutch it then it will go all the way down to 1000rpm's and start there off the launch.

My bet is that this guy is hiding something, telling that guy all those mods, and him upping it another 100 bucks? Sounds like hes got some serious mojo under the hood, or a lot of money...but if hes got 200 bucks to burn .....then hes probly got some stuff under the hood!

He probably just thinks his car is god. Just race him and prove him wrong. His car is a fast car that would beat me easy but with the mods you have he shouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't race him from a roll because thats just not really fair for him. Besides you guys are going up to 125mph.

The only feasable and economic way I can see him winning if is he is spraying.

The spray does somthing funky to Turbocharged cars a 50 shot on a BPU WRX puts them at around 12 flat. It has somthing to do with the NOS shot PLUS the supercooling effect that it has on the already compressed air charge. That makes a 50 shot more like a 100 shot on a turboed car.

If he has money then $3000 into a large turbo setup could net him an 11 sec car.

Who knows my guess is he's talking out of his ass.

Time and schedules are conflicting and we have to drive a bit to a safe open road (no tracks for hundreds of miles). I dont want to give any dates at this point but will Ill keep all of ya posted. I have a P1SC on my car and it indimates a lot of other cars on the street both Domestic & Rice. I do know that the D1SC is even louder. So if this Kid heard your car and he is still insisting to race for money, he is definetly hiding something or is Just another Bonifide Idiot Ricer!

I checked out your webpage, You have a better cam than me and work done to to your heads (i have STOCK heads) and you also have a more effiecient blower and intercoolers than I do so I would guestimate that you are probably making about ~50 more HP than me so I am pretty damn sure you will roast this guy...
