I'll do it for $175 plus the old cam/lifters. you would have to bring the car to me. I live in dearborn heights. and, I wont have time till after M8. gotta get my car ready and hopefully fin. the N20 install. just havent had as much time as Id like to have lately to work on it. anyways, email me if interested. chris 96lt4 10-06-2003, 11:39 AM I live in Warren, MI The cam is a 234/244 @.050 with .488/.510 lift. Do you have any experience with cam installs? triumph 10-06-2003, 12:14 PM Chris is a dealer tech. And yes he has done a few cams in his time. Steven IrocSS85 10-06-2003, 12:30 PM oh yeah. I built my last eng. from scratch. I replaced cams (2 times) in my big block eng. 10 years ago ago. thats how I got started in this perf. stuff. Ive installed lots of late model speed equipment, i.e. cam, supercharger, headers, stick-auto swaps, and Im an ase cert. tech at a pont. dealership. so Im not short on my qualifications. the eng. in my Iroc is prolly just like yours. I like old school carbs and big cams. the cam in my Iroc is 236/242 solid. what other mods does your 72 have? gears/trans? you need big gears and either a stick or a stall conv. to use that cam. as well as a good intake, headers, and at least 650 carb. what cam are you thinking of goin with? I always recommend people to call comp cams to see what they recommend to meet there goals. BTW, I bet a shop price will be more like $600 for the install, not including parts ofcourse. you'll need to bring fresh oil and filter to change after the cam install/ break in, and coolant to top off. ofcourse you'll also need timing chain gaskets, distr. gasket, valve cover gaskets, water pump gaskets, and new sp. plugs if they are not new already. might as well check the cond. of the belts too since they will be off already. summit will sell a cam install package for the gaskets I believe that will incl. all the needed gaskets. chris 96lt4 10-07-2003, 12:06 AM Check your email Chris. Jay-Roll 10-07-2003, 03:34 AM Iroc, if you can do all that stuff do you do it for hire? Err what I mean is do you do that kind of stuff regularly enough so if I needed a cam install or head work done or something I could call you up and set up a price and install date. I'd like to do the work myself but I would feel more confident if someone with more experience was there doing the brunt of the work while I assisted. That way next time I can do it myself and I'm still saving $$ from having a shop do it this time. PM me or shoot me an email please. | ||
