taner 10-04-2003, 08:57 PM well got to try out the slightly modded suspension! all i can say is awesome, car lifted straight and went straight. first run off the trailer netted me a 9.71 @ 140.54 mph. once i got past 60' out the car was skating everywhere! GRRRR!!!!!!! oh well!
next pass pulled my longest wheelstand to date, i would estimate 45-50 from the video! about 8 - 12 inches in the air the whole way! how sweet that was! that was a 1.34 60' car went 10.01, skating again!!!!
last pass......1.34 60' car again left nice and straight, forgot the bottle i grabbed had been slightly used, pressure went to **** by the time i grabbed 4th(ran a 10.1 @ 133.XX mph). then it gets really good or should i say interesting... i lift at the end of the track and put it in neutral, kill the spray and the throttle stuck open!!! not WOT, but enough that it first shocked me and then needless to say i turned the key off and rolled down! doh!!!!! i will pull the throttle body to see why it jammed up on me!
thanks to the crew for all of the help today!
CanIroc 10-04-2003, 11:57 PM Yeah that first run was pretty cool. Never a dull moment behind the wheel eh taner.
I had a decent day. Not quite a PB but ran a 13.84 @ 99 mph.
Bob
transamtom 10-05-2003, 12:23 AM Thats some quick thinking Taner, the shut down area is real short at St Thomas:eek:
Good to hear about the new PB's on the 60 fts.
Did anyone else run PB's?
I wish I could have been there, working as usual:(
steve40 10-05-2003, 12:34 AM the 3.73's got me a 13.27 no mph as that wasn't working with a 1.88 60' with lots of spinning so there is more left:D
hopefully i can make it out once more this year to get traction before i put it away
Birdie2000 10-05-2003, 12:37 AM Damnit, I heard talk about this gathering a week ago, but I didn't see the post until just now. Would have loved to have gone. Good job Taner, sounds like things are (mostly) working how they should. :)
PS: What parts were you trying out today?
transamtom 10-05-2003, 05:34 AM Congrats Steve, nice run:cool:
I better get to work on my car a tenth and a half is a lot of catching up to do
steve40 10-05-2003, 09:30 AM thanks tom
are you going to make it out again this year?
taner 10-05-2003, 10:29 AM birdie,
you'll have to see them for yourself at M8. it is nothing brand new to the chassis world, but you'll probably never see it on another street driven f-body. at least not yet!
bob,
never dull is right, now if i could get them to spray a couple of hundred feet out! i was spinning, short shifting ....blah blah blah, lmao!!!! (yeah yeah here come the excuses)
till M8 :)
Brett H 10-05-2003, 11:48 AM Never a dull moment is an understatement, all the badgering Roman took kept thinking interesting and the racing was good too;)
BTW: a new PB for me too :) 13.44 @ 105.12 on a 2.114 60' plus I ran .50X to .55x RT's all day:D
taner 10-05-2003, 12:41 PM congrats again brett, did you ever find that 12 sec slip that blew away ;) ;)
also how can i get a copy of your video tape??? please!!!
Birdie2000 10-05-2003, 12:49 PM Speaking of video Taner... do you still have those videos that you took of me (and that GTO for that matter) when we went to St. Thomas a few weeks ago?
taner 10-05-2003, 01:31 PM i do have some video, yes. i have that GTO on tape as well.
Brett H 10-05-2003, 01:42 PM Taner, just give me a call when you aren't too busy. I'll bring my camera over and you can copy it onto your digi-camera or I'll record it on a VHS tape and give it to you. I probably have a dozen or so runs in total.
Did Jen get any of my runs from Sat on tape? In particular my 13.44 run?

Yes,Oct 25th.
But it will not be at M8,no money :(
I wish I could but I just cannot make it work money wise
But I am going to the TFB vs GTAMC at Cayuga:)
I hope there are some slow Stangs I can beat:p
taner 10-05-2003, 07:47 PM i know she got one, or at least i did. i think it was a 13.5 run though. maybe later this week for the copying of your tape.
CanIroc 10-05-2003, 07:48 PM taner, did you happen to get any of mine?
Bob
taner 10-05-2003, 07:53 PM not sure but i have yours from the last race at the TFBM event! :)
CanIroc 10-05-2003, 07:57 PM cool, how can I get it from you?
Bob
Brett H 10-05-2003, 08:32 PM Taner, we can set something up later this week.
I was thinking if I was there anyhow we could maybe put a coat or two of Zaino on the SS, after seeing it at St. Thomas it looks like it hasn't been done in a year.;)
taner 10-05-2003, 08:54 PM lmao!!! we'lll i guess driving thru the rain didn't help the shine... but i washed the car tonight and man does it look great!!!!
let me know if wednesday night is ok for you?

Yeah that made the whole day fun. I look forward to that from you guys every meeting that we have.
After 3 years in a row of only being able to race for a month and getting razzed about it, I don't think that I want to do that anymore.
Next spring I will be in the drivers seat once again. Then you can razz me, but not over the car.:p
Brett H 10-06-2003, 03:55 PM We can still raz you about your car, after all it is red.;)
taner 10-06-2003, 04:33 PM lmao @ Bret!!!! now that is hitting below the belt.
Tilley 10-06-2003, 04:43 PM Now I'm confused?
Is Roman going to be driving the red SS, or the red SS/T?
I just can't predict this guy anymore...
taner 10-06-2003, 05:40 PM roflmao!!!!:D :D :D
Brett H 10-06-2003, 05:44 PM I can't take credit for my last comment, it was Robs first.:p
taner 10-06-2003, 05:48 PM i am anxiously awaiting Roman to jump in..... oh romanSS where are you.... :D
steve40 10-06-2003, 07:07 PM talk about co-operation with the ls1 guys and just to think that mighty iron paper weight lt1:bow: is what...............still faster:eek:
Birdie2000 10-06-2003, 07:57 PM Considering how many of you guys have been borrowing parts from his POS car, I would think you'd be a little easier on the guy. :D :p

I will always be expecting something, so red it is. I can live with that.

Thanks Jim. At least someone has a little sympothy.
POS car though??? I know it but you don't have to tell everyone.
Birdie2000 10-06-2003, 09:58 PM lol Roman, I'm just playin with ya. Keep in mind your car is still faster than most all of these guys by a long shot. The only one here that is in any position to harass you is Taner, and he's keeping his mouth shut for the most part. Now I just hope that your old tranny doesn't curse my car to 1 month racing seasons as well! :p

Im sure that the trans that you have will not be an issue to short race seasons. Did you make the call on that torque convertor?
And I am surprised that Taner is being queit for the most part.;)
Birdie2000 10-06-2003, 10:35 PM I never got around to calling Wade. I was talking with some people and it'll probably cost almost as much to loosen that one up as it would to just buy a new converter. I'm planning a few significant changes over the winter, so I'm gonna wait and see what my new setup is like before I spend any money on the trans.
taner 10-06-2003, 10:57 PM lmmfao!!!!! after seeing Jim's post earlier, i was at a loss for words. i guess when you buy a trans you earn the right to poke and jab, lol!!!!
hmmm, i will crew chiefing for that red car come the spring so believe you me, that biatch better be flyin' down that track, and this is long before the bottle goes in with a small shot
don't make me pull you out of the car  :p :p ;)
Jim,
do you realize you just called out a moster of a car for next year!!!! you had better be packin' a lunch, in the words of Jeff Taylor! ;) :D
Birdie2000 10-06-2003, 11:13 PM Taner, I wasn't aware I called anyone out! I was talking with Roman about the torque converter that came with his transmission, and he told me to call Wade at ARE about the specs on it.
And as far as makin jabs at Roman, I think I was the most sympathetic out of all of y'all. I at least appologized. :p Roman's car is awesome, but it ain't his fault that it ain't running right now. :p
romanss 10-06-2003, 11:38 PM Taner aren't you supposed to be away, enjoying yourself???
Jim, don't worry I didn't take it that you were calling me out.
And you're right, you have been the most gentle out of the bunch.
taner 10-07-2003, 10:46 AM yeah yeah....callin' ya out he was :D :D :D
hell i have been pretty quiet! and yes i am enjoying myself!
97WRAITH 10-07-2003, 10:50 PM Roman as long as it's an F-body your alright in my books. They may have won the battle but the war is not over.:death: :death:
Rob.
