i was looking for a very close to stock sounding cam.
i mean almost identical. is there any that are over the shelf?

say like a 224/230 on a 116, would that sound stock?
would it peak real soon?

any suggestions would be great

If you give some more details about your combo, it would help.

Yes and No.

You are going to loose out on the power because of the lack of overlap, but there are some successfull cams out there that are examples of this.

The Thunder Old Man Cam, 214/220 115 -2 comes to mind. That's a LS1 cam though.

What motor are we talking about here?

A LT1 doesn't really want to make TQ down that low.

Overlap is needed on an NA car. it "pushes" the exhuast out and creates a momentium so to speak for intake. not needed with an FI situation for varrious reasons.

The reason being is that, well think of it this way.

exhuast is leaving- but its creating a vacuum. something needs to go in to let it out fast. fill up a can, turn it upside down. chug chug chug. poke a hole in the top. out smooth. same idea. it pushes exhuast out.

Overlap is "good" for a number of other reasons. Its also relative to your cam. xxxLSA is NOT the same on on a 212* cam as it is a on a 248* cam. differnt cams have diffent "needs" degree wise.

Simplified? yea sure. but these conversations can run away damn fast and if you dont have the "base idea" of what they are talking about, it can be very difficult to understand. sometimes its taken for granted that the basics are understood by all.
