A friend of mine and I decided that the stock seats in my Camaro dont quite give enough lateral support at the upper side bolsters, especially while racing....
Simple solution: bend the side bolsters in at the seat framing. You dont even have to take the seat out. Just unscrew the 2 screws that hold in the seat belt shoulder track, then pull off the"flip-forward" lever on the back of the seat (just pull HARD). With a little bit of persuasion, the seat cover will just slide off (theres some velcro holding it to the seat in the front, get your hand in there and work it off). Once the seat cover is off, flip the foam padding forward to expose the seat frame. You can see the side bolster metal frames welded to the main frame. We just bent them in with a big-ass screw-driver, careful not to pop the welds off ;) A few degrees in for each side was enough for me. Replace everything...and....presto! Lateral Support! :D
Definitely hold me in place better than before....you can do the leg side bolsters as well, but you have to take the seat out for that and I am lazy :D :D
Just thought you guys might want to try this out, if you didnt know about or have this done already:D
Happy Racing!
