I have installed 3.73 gears for 3.23 and i did not pick up any ET, MPH, nor better 60 ft time. Will the computer counter the new gear change but correct the odometer?

what is my problemFred Jeter 09-27-2003, 01:38 AM I have installed 3.73 gears for 3.23 and i did not pick up any ET, MPH, nor better 60 ft time. Will the computer counter the new gear change but correct the odometer? Injuneer 09-27-2003, 11:02 AM This belongs on LT1 Tech, or Drag Racing. what sort of traction did you have? What tires? Did you alter shift points? Did you correct your ET and MPH to standard conditions to compensate for any differences in temperature, barometer or humidity? The computer can not change anything by itself. If you didn't change the gear ratio setting in the PCM, it may have affected shift points. And your speedo and odometer will be incorrect by 15%. If you changed the gear ratio setting in the PCM the speedo and odometer will be correct, but you might still have to tweak shift points. What is the redline and trap speed? Moving to "Drag Racing"...... GUMP 09-27-2003, 01:39 PM Earlier this year, I changed my gear from a 5.38 to a 4.88. The week before I ran a 6.91 (1/8th) at 98 mph with a 1.41 sixty foot time. After the change it ran exactly the same numbers sixty, 330, 1/8th, and mph!! Weather conditions were almost identical also. I do believe that my quarter mile times would have been quite a bit slower with the 5.38 though. Best Regards, Daren | ||
