I need seat belt/harness recomendations
Well I'm pretty sure my car is handling at more than 1 g on a skidpad and I need some seatbelts that can hold me in place. In the future I want to get a roll cage and race seats but right now I can't afford them. I was thinking of getting some 5-point harnesses. Does anyone have these on a car with stock seats and no rollcage??? Will they bolt to the bolts that hold the seat down? and what kind would be good for stock seats in my 85 vette? are 5 point harnesses bearable for daily driving?
Thanks for any help or input.
How much are comfortable race seats?

I can't picture what stock seats in a '85 Vette look like, but in my '94 Firebird the leather seats would work with a 5 pt. harness. The key is a headrest that allows the shoulder harness to slide over the seat base and under the headrest. For your lap harness and crotch strap, I'd get a 6 pt. harness. You can then route the crotch strap hookups and lap belts to the factory lap belt mounting points. That's what I've done in mine now and it's much more convenient than a 5 pt.
However, to mount your shoulder harness you really should get a rollbar and wrap the belts around it. If you just get a harness bar and your car rolls, your head will be your rollbar. That's not good is it?
For the harness I went to http://www.racerwholesale.com . Their G-Force line of products is first rate for the money IMO.

Thanks a lot 94Bird, that was the info I was looking for. On my corvette the headrest and seat are one piece so I won't be able to slide anything under a headrest. Guess I'll have to wait for another year or so, then I will get seats/harnesses/ and a roll cage (I have to start saving my pennies)
Some autoxers have a H strap on their shoulder belts that connects the 2 shoulder belts behind the seat. This will keep them from spreading out. That's fine if you never plan on getting a rollbar but if you do, you'll throw that harness away. It might be a good interim piece for you, but I wouldn't use any harness without a rollbar unless you're just talking about autoxing.
