Would new rear sway bar help

Well, I was racing the other day, and on the 1-2 shift my rear end kicked out about 2 foot to the rear right, and I almost hit the guy. I was wondering if a bigger rear sway bar would help keep the back end from getting sideways? Also, would a shift kit with firmer (quicker) shifts help the problem?

A bigger sway bar will help. I would actually look into a anti - roll bar see the "Baer's catalog" It more money( mounts in the body above the rear end) but it works nails. Also check your posi unit and bushings. To the left in definately sway bar but the right? Well look everything over. Good luck

Yeah a friend watching the race said I took off on one wheel, but then my posi hooked up later. I figured the right rear lifted making it spin. I don't know why the back of the car kicked to the right though (i was in the left lane, him in the right).

Oh yeah, if it's the sway bar, why would it kick out to the left (why does it "prefer" this, you know physics wise)?

well if I'm not mistaken, when you hit the gas the body tends to roll to the right side flowing back to the wheels, this then sends the reaar axle to move vertically, with the right side coming up, forcing more traction to the left tire and less to the right, as the right wheel will tend to rise upwards. In your case you lost traction sending it to the right. There is an article out there that I will find that deals moree with this.
