Brake Sensor?

Well last week my ABS INOP light came on and went off last sunday. This morning it came back on so I took it to the independent garage right down the road from my house. The guy there told me that since the ABS fuse isn't shot, and the ABS fluid isn't low that it's probably my Brake Sensor going bad or already bad. He said instead of having ABS brakes that I would just have regular brakes. My question is, is he right or is he just feeding me a bunch of crap and if he's right how much would it cost to get it fix or fix it myself?

Ihad the same problem I took it to the dealer and they told me that it would cost me something like 450.00 to fix I siad take it off of the rack and I will drive it home. They said it was the wheel bearings and the ABS sen., the tech cleaned it with some electric cleaning spray hooked it back up and it has yet too come back on. You can, buy just the ABS sen. at say NAPA and replace it but the dealer ship sure will not tell you that. The price to fix it went from 450.00 to 25.00 in about 30 min. But like i said before the dealer cleaned it and 3,000 miles later it has yet to come on.

Is there anyway for me to clean it myself or do I have to take it to a dealership for them to do it? And how much will they or should they charge me?
