Okay would you guys recommend that I do it myself, or take it to the dealer. I don't have a garage, so I would be doing it out side in the parking lot. Looks like it could be rather time consuming, and painful. Should I just let them do it?

Save the money and do it yourself. Go to installuniversity.com. The first time maybe time consuming, but you will be glad you did it and the next time will be a piece of cake. Some have broken it down by doing one side one day and the other another day. This way you don't get too frustrated, but if you do a search on the ls1 sites you will find good info on how to do this along with install university.

I did mine outside, one side at a time. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. With the money I saved I got some new plug wires.

Just follow install university's instructions... and make sure you move your coil pack and airtubes on the pass side... and the airtubes on drivers side if you have big arms.

It is well worth doing it yourself. That way you also know that all 8 have new plugs. I have helped a bunch of guys around here with theres and 50% of the time one of the hard to reach plugs hasn't been changed.

Above and beyond install university...
I have 3 tricks that make this easier on you.

1. When you are removing the coil packs on the passengers side get some little dikes and snip the pointed tip off of the plastic rivits under the cowl. If you dont see them you will locate them when they scratch the SH$T out of your hands.

2. Use a 10mm ratcheting wrench (gear wrench) to remove the back coil pack bolt. When done, get rid of that bolt. You dont need it anymore.

2. For the #6 & #8 plugs (last two plugs on the passenger side) literally lay down on top of the battery. This will put your arm at the correct angle to reach them. You have to work by feel and not by sight.

Good luck
