1996 Comp T/A #84 of 172 possibly for sale! gauging interest!
1996 Comp T/A #84 of 172 total possibly for sale, at this point I am just gauging interest but if some serious interest is there maybe we can work something out I just came to this decision this evening. I don’t really want to sell my baby but I have other more important things going on in my life that I need to contend with. Anyway, the car currently has 79k miles on it. Car has been a daily driver and shows the minor scarring that all DD’s take, however it has been cared for all its life by experienced competent people, (namely me). The car was purchased new by my mother in Fall of 96, Car is a loaded Comp TA, it has T-tops grey Leather interior, and was originally an automatic car, I have all the docs and paraphernalia included brand new, never used car cover, floor mats new numbered badges due to a mix-up while at SLP (I have docs for that too). Original engine was replaced at 37k miles by GM due to a spun rod bearing (possible 4 bolt main but I never pulled the pan to look). Car has some mods:
Hooker Super Comp 1 ¾ long tubes coated by Paul Barry, the collectors are starting to get surface rust on them but are still covered under Paul’s warranty, they just need to be removed and sent back. Mandrel bent 3” to 4” Y-pipe leading into a Mufflex 4” mandrel bent exhaust with a Flowmaster muffler. Car has BMR Chromoly adjustable poly lower control arms, (orange), Chromoly Panhard Bar (Orange), BMR lower control arm brackets, BMR Orange subframe connectors, A Coleman Racing Aluminum Driveshaft, 3.73’s, the good Zexel Torsen (definitely not the ones that come stock this was originally installed by SLP, rearend cover, CSI Waterpump, Fernco mod, K&N, air box has been modified for more flow as has the hood, Car has MSD wires and OTC looms, The ABS Controller has been removed and in it’s place is a custom line lock and adjustable brake bias adjuster, but is included with the deal in case you want to reinstall, This car stops RIGHT NOW! Car has Orange Powder coated LS1 front brakes, and Orange Powder Coated rear brakes, Car will have two new 275-40-17’s Nitto 555R’s on the rear (the drag radials wear out quick!) and 6 month old 275-40-17 Nitto 555R’s on the front. I have just ordered LS1 tail light assemblies for the car as the original passenger side tail lamp separated. Car has been converted to 6 speed and has a Pro 5.0 shifter and a B&M Chrome T-handle. Included in the deal is the 45 K mile 4l60E, car has Energy Suspension poly motor and tranny mounts, I also have a set of factory 16” 5 spoke wheels with newish tires that are included in the deal too. The original 1996 Computer and LT1Edit for OBD2 with cable locked to the computer, (Car currently has a 1995 computer in it that is included as well. I have also replaced the center console with a newer style with the cup holder on the passenger side. Currently the car has an extremely harsh ceramic clutch disc which will chatter your eyes out, I plan to replace this with something a little more street able before the sale but I will throw that disc in too if you want it. To sweeten the deal here is what I am throwing in as extras: (1) 2 bolt Standard bore LT1 block, and two unported cylinder heads, one looks a little funky due to a freak oven cleaner episode and the other is just as it came off the donor car both are fine and just need to be cleaned up ported and bolted on. A whole slew of T56 parts, (I rebuild T56’s if you need one done and are willing to bring it to Tampa FL. Before anyone asks, NO I am not willing to part the car out. I also have a BMR Xtreme Duty torque arm in orange that has been on the car but is currently not installed. (This piece mounts to the sub frame connectors not the tranny tail shaft!
In the interest of full disclosure here are some problem/concerns you should be made aware of:
1. The car has several door dings and minor body issues. The rear bumper cover needs to be replaced. The car really needs to be painted again to make it 100%, but looks great from 10 feet away.
2. I did have a TNT wet nitrous kit installed on this car. The engine had 4 bottles run through it. I always ran it pig rich and I have had it removed for over a year now with no adverse affects.
3. The rear main seal leaks a little. When I have the clutch out I, will replace with a new one.
4. Windshield has minor surface scratches where the wiper blades travel (from the wiper blades themselves) I can probably try to polish them out with jeweler's rouge.
That’s about it. The car has 2 new O2’s and an opti less than 3 months ago. As I said before this is a decision I came to tonight. If anyone is serious send me a PM otherwise just let me know what you think fair market value is, I am not looking to get rich but I still owe a little bit on the car. Thanks for reading and i will probably add some more info if I can think of it. If you don't know what a Comp T/A is go here to see
