brown bread

There is some on ebay for 125 for 70 sq ft.... just wondering how big an improvement this stuff makes Ive done a little research on it and seems nice since I have my exhaust dumped under the car. also what sort of prep is there and is brown bread a good one I know there are a bunch....

Brown Bread is good stuff. It's a damper and not a composite noise barrier though. It will lessen the sound coming through the panels, but is really designed for keeping stuff from resonating.

so the interior wont vibrate apart but it will still sound just as loud about? Whats some stuff that reduces both for a decent price?

Oh, it'll definately stop the vibrations. It will also decrease the amount of sound coming thru. Two layers will get you atleast 4-5 db less noise. A product that is made for reducing noise would be B-quiet Vcomp or Lcomp. They are the best price/performance ratio I've seen. But be forwarned, they are NOT cheap.

what about dynamatt I always hear its over priced but NORMALLY you get what you pay for to some extent. I think one layer of brown bread would be enough since its what 1 lb per sq/ft . Also will the brown bread help teh stereo system sound better?

I honestly don't feel there is anyreason to go with Dynamat Xtreme over BrownBread. Especially considering the price difference. They are honestly just about equal in performance with the edge going to Dynamat Xtreme, but the price is another story.

BB only weighs .4 lb/sq. ft. It's not light, but it's not as ungodly heavy as you were thinking. The BB can definately improve what you hear. It eliminates resonance which is a BIG deal in doors. You'll get much better bass/midbass response from the speakers. It also eliminates alot of ratlles when used to do so, taking away the distracting buzyness and what not. Plus is quiets down the interior which helps to bring out the detail.

All in all there is really only two downsides to deadening materials. Wieght and cost. Other than that go nuts.

so you suggest 2 coats?? would one not do it? OH and isnt about 70 sq ft enough to cover the floor pan once all over, and teh doors are fiberglass just wondering if they still need the deadening material as much as the floor pan? Thanks for your help!
