Every once in a while when I go to pull my e brake up the handle goes almost straight up? I took it to the dealer and it did not do it for them. Does anyone else have this problem? Did anyone get it fixed?

This has happened to me 3 times in a year and a half.

I've heard of it happening to other people to. It's a design defect. It only does it if if you pull it a certain way.

When it happens, just release the brake and pull it again. That always fixes it.

that is what I do, just pull it up again. I have it do it to me all the time. Did you ever take it into the dealership? Mine is still under warranty, so if something is wrong I would like them to fix it.:D :D

Take a look at this picture. You'll see the teeth that the handle has, and then there is a piece of metal that latches on the teeth. Then there is a small spring that puts pressure on the latch. If that spring comes loose or stretched, you'll notice this happens quite frequently. The only way to tell is to take the center console apart and check it yourself.

However, as Stumper said, it is actually supposed to happen if you pull on it a certain way. It is the only way you can get the center console apart.

I didn't say it supposed to happen, but does happen alot because it's a design defect.

It's not a big deal IMO, just release and re-pull.

I rember hearing that the parking brake is self ajusting.

when I pull mine up sometimes it goes farther then normal, but usualy I dont haul on it, it only needs a few clicks to be effective.

This sounds like a fairly common problem, as I've found several threads about it in the other forum sections. Did you ever find out what caused this? I am experiencing the same problem -- every so often the lever will snap up with no resistance at all. Then, if I work the lever down and up again, it seems to catch. The pic in Constrictor98TA's post no longer works. Does anyone else have a similar pic to illustrate the spring/gear assembly?

Thanks for any replies!
