What is the best intake?

What would the best intake be for my 87 iroc 350 tpi either beefing up my tpi system or getting a stealth ram , super ram , or mini ram stuff like that you know which would be better?

i do believe the mini-ram is the top performer and for 1300 dollars with fuel rail it better be!

I like the Superram setup which allows you to reuse your fuel rail and exposes the schraeder valve to check fuel pressure. Plus the fuel pressure regulator is easy to get to if you have to change it or adjust it if you get the AFPR. Not sure about the others.

It can be good. Port the gahunas out of it. There's no way it'll be AS good as one of the "Ram's" but definitely will be the most cost-efficient way.

Beefed up as how? Port and polish? Total change? What are you trying to achieve and what kind of money to spend? What future mods do you plan?

Buying a whole new tpi kit for thats supposed to add horse but i figured buying one of the rams would be better.

And i plan on rebuilding tranny or buying a diff one,383, different rear axle gear possibly super charger if i ever get that much money.

I have been very happy with my Superram. I would rebuild your 700 if that is what you have. That will stand up to the 383 if done right and you will have overdrive which is nice. Before you go with the SC, I would do heads and cams first. Something like AFR 190s or 195s will be good.

You can buy an LT1 for really cheap, and they're pretty good.

Yea i was thinking bout just rebuilding my 350 with a 10 to 1 comprassion rate and adding heads and buff cam and all that stuff up but id say 383 would be better.

Wow tahst awesome but i thought the lt1 intake and tpi were pretty much the same performance wise maybe not?

i do believe the lt1 intake is based off of the mini-ram and has much better performance

my vote is for the miniram or superram depending on the needs and budget. i have a miniram so i should be biased but i don't think too highly of tpis at all so i wouldn't get it again. for ease of use and power the miniram works very very well though.

Now, my understand is that the LT1 intake (at least, the one linked to) and the super ram are NOT emissions legal. Is this correct?

Are any of these alternate intakes emissions legal? For those of us in states with emissions laws, this sort of thing is important ;)

obviously an lt1 intake should be since it is on an lt1.

however the superram/miniram are not.

I'm 100% sure the Stealth Ram, TPIS Bigmouth and SDPC Vortec intakes are all street legal. I would imagine the LT1 one is (same intake as the 4th gens). As for the SuperRam, I'm not sure.

My comment for the LT1 was based on the FAQ on that site, which said that it wasnt emissions legal.

meh just about everything is non emissions legal....whatever here i just gotta pass a sniffer so as long as i can do that its all good =) and if not i have a couple hundred bucks layin around somewhere

So, say between the Stealth Ram and the LT1 Intake which would you guys reccomend? (sorry for kinda hijacking this thread, lol)
