Ok well I have been putting alot of thinking into this... and i think im going to just stop all work on my current motor, sell it... and pick me up a 454.

what ya'll think?

i know its an awesome mod for the 2nd gens and quite easly to a point...

The real question is why not? You gotta replace your tranny/rear end anyhow. May as well do it once and put some good units in there that will take a BB. Make sure you know the cost factor of BB though. They are literally twice the price, which is why so many people run sb. But, having said that you will have enough power to scare your friends with :D .

lol ya... i dunno what would be best for a bbc though... i do love the manual though... would be sweet to have a manual that can handle the power of a mild modded 454

richmond 5 speed or 6 speed personally if this car is a daily driver your going the wrong way, youll end up hating to drive the car, horrible mileage, still getting beat by lt1s and ls1s:D etc. etc. go efi:metal:

never said its a daily driver, and when i get a 454 if most definitely will not be a daily driver.

just so happens that i got my th350 out of my camro for sale, pretty modded. will handle what you can throw at it, $500 as is, or about $675 rebuilt to freshen it up:cool:

If you can't go with the LS1 power up with the 454. I love the sound of the big block. Just rev her up and the compitition will run scared. :D

my dad is currenty talking to a shop in the states... right now its looking like a 454 with 495rwhp on base tune... complete crate motor with carb and waterpump.

u.s. to cdn it comes out to about $5300 free ground shipping anywhere in the US.... then i gotta figure out duty and if i can get around it.

but it sounds like a nice look job to start on.

im just filling out my plan on the car right now... figuring out what i want to do, and a budget plan

What's the price difference between a 454 and a 502 crate?

454's are commonplace........502 on the other hand........:drool:

a brand new 454 crate turn key motor is only 5300 cdn !??? U GOT TO BE SH*TTIN ME :shock:

I bought a 502 crate motor with 515 ft lbs@3500 and 440 hp @5200 for $4600.00. This was back in the last century, 1996 I think, from Preston Chev. It only has a few hours on it seeing as I stuffed it in my boat and it hardly ever gets used.

The torque is really nice coming out of the hole. Too bad it won't fit in my 84 Camaro.

panda it really depends on where u get it.. if u get it from a small shop that specializes in making motors.... it would probably be cheaper then buying something from say GM Performance.

and by the way, there are two local gm crate 454s in the buy and sell for 2200 cdn each, ones efi:D the others carb:( still in crate

ya that would be sweet.... but it will end up like this... the price of the engine.... shipping.... duty...... installation (including, fuel, cooling and front chas modding)

a 454 is a direct fit and will work with everything i have.... i saw those... but if its what im thinking it is... they will end up being like 200/300hp motors... if that.

but im not getting a computer engine, rather get a new car which im not.
