RE: 92 RS w/ 305 and 700R4

Oh yes...I'm finally going to swap in six gears! I've read the info on thirdgen.org but I can't find anything about the 98+ T56 nor anything on the vette T56.

Anyone know if I can use a 2000 vette T56 as a direct swap into my previously equipped 700r4?

Anyone have any info on the 98+ T56 in the camaro?

Yeah, the Vette uses a transaxle. Pretty sure it is completely worthless to you.

I would stick with a 94-97 Model T56 trans. just my opinion because I've seen that swap work correctly.

Ditto on both replies. LS1 T56's (like the '00 Vette) have a different input shaft and bellhousing, I think that's it. '93 has the weird 1st gear so like AutoRoc said, I'd go with 4-7. Good luck! :thumb:

C5 vettes do NOT use the T56, they use a trans that is mounted in the rear, connected to the engine viea a shaft and torque tube, I think the transaxle they use in german made? not sure though

The 'Vette trans is totally different....you'd have to swap in the whole transaxle/IRS setup (which requires extensive floorpan and chassis hack-work) as well as the torque tube and clutch setup and it would really be a LOT more trouble than it's worth.

The LS1 F-body trans is no good unless you're swapping in an LS1. The input shaft, bellhousing, clutch setup, and other minor things are different enough to make it unfeasible.

The 93-97 T-56 is almost a direct bolt-in. You need a conversion crossmember, a speedo convertor, and a conversion flywheel (if you have an early-model engine.) The '93 trannys have deeper gear ratios and a slightly lower power rating than the later years. If you want more info on ratings and ratios PM me.
