Alright, I need to know everything I can about my stock 77 305 2bbl heads. I have a 307 in my truck and have had severalpeople tell me that 305 heads on it would add a little power(higher comnpression, greater velocity thanks to smaller valves). So I need to know everything about these heads: Valve size, combustion chamber size, flow numbers if anyone knows, etc. If no one knows, then being pointed in the right direction would be appreciated.

You need to get the casting number from under the valve cover, between the springs. It will from 6 to 10 or so numbers long. Then go to

and check em out. Good Luck

If they're stock they'll be 58cc chambers (probably slightly larger in reality) with 1.74/1.50 valves. They are the worst possible 305 heads ever made. I have couple of sets of them. Email me and I'll get the numbers off mine and you can see if yours are the same. Later model "441" (or is it 414?) heads like used in the early-80s 305 HO use larger 1.84/1.50 valves and have better ports and chambers and will bolt right on. No stock 305 head is really very good, though.

It would be easier (IMHO) to swap in a 350 than to swap heads. At least more beneficial.
