I was wondering if anyone has used the rear disc set-up from a 79 - 81 Firebird on their 1st generation Camaro successfully. I have been told that this set-up will "bolt right up". Is this a myth? Sounds too good to be true. Anyone have any other suggestions other then using the expensive aftermarket route?

If you don't need a parking brake. You can use what circle track guys use. It's a piece called a hat and rotor. The hat is availible is alum or steel and goes over the axle and a rotor bolts to it. Then you weld a bracket on the axle tube and you use a standard G.M. caliper (most use the metric caliper)

Hats run about 40.00 each (need 1 per side)
Rotors run abuut 50.00 each (1 per side)
Weld on bkt. 6.00 each (1 per side)
Rebuilt caliper 30.00 each (1 per side)

You could check with a circle track store near you they sould know what I'm talking about.

Thanks for the info, but I will try to stay away from modifications that require welding on any part of my original car, and besides, I do need a parking brake. Thanks anyway.
