Strange(maybe)N2O Problem

The problem I am having, is when I use my N2O(full bottle), it hits hard and takes off,but after 5700 rpms(shift point is 6700) the car falls on its face. But once it shifts into the next gear,it has power again and takes off till it hits 5700 rpm again. It dosent do this NA. I also have no fpss. What would cause this only in high rpms?

What fuel pump? Sounds like you are either running out of fuel, or maybe your plug gap needs narrowed some.

I had this problem last year on my 77 (I know, it's carburated, but may help). When I was spraying the car would rev to about 4500, and just fall flat on its face, without the spray no problem. A week later I was driving, no spray and the problem happened, the fuel pump ended up taking a crap on me.

Thanks for the replys. I still have the stock fuel system and havent checked my o2s with N2O, but NA they read rich-980mv. If I was running out of fuel on the N2O, wouldnt the car still have good power due to the nitrous and just harm the motor? Also,my plugs do need changing. TR6s have been in almost 2 years.

If you have a stock fuel pump and you're trying to spray on top of a cc306 cam, you're asking for trouble, IMHO.

Get a 255lph pump in there ASAP.

And no, it won't have as good as power when it's extremely lean--I've been finding this out since my fuel noid seems to be going off and on. The hit isn't nearly as hard as normal, and my O2s were sub .100. :eek:

I had the same problem last year. Well, sounds like the same anyway. But I did check all the above things first. Make sure you have good fuel pressure above all else. Mine ended up to be a sticky nitrous solenoid that wasn't opening all the way. Could've saved alot of grief had I used a laptop at the track and got o2 readings. That would save any guessing.
