jakef2003 09-04-2003, 05:48 PM I just got bck from 2 weeks in AZ, near Ford's yucca proving grounds. I managed to get a few pics of new Ford's such as: 2005 GT and V6, Exterior, interior, Suspension, Ford 500, Land rover Discovery, Ford Explorer, Lincoln LS, ALL models of the new Series, a new station wagon?,a new compact car?, and maybe a couple other things. anyone interested in seeing the pics?
SNEAKY NEIL 09-04-2003, 05:58 PM Is that a retorical question?

Sixer-Bird 09-05-2003, 04:48 PM Could someone please explan to me why companies put crazy stripes or spots on their test mules like that? To me, it would attract attention more than detour it. The Malibu mule I saw in South Padre summer before last had black and white stripes on it similar to that, and I first spotted it while sitting in a resteraunt! Once I saw it pass by I knew it was some kind of test car.

It's called "Dazzle" camouflage. Sure it's noticeable. But it's hard to make out styling elements like contours and details.....especially in photos.
SMUJeremy 09-05-2003, 09:16 PM Jake, good job on that, come over to drink with me and tell me stories of the trip and to show me the pics...
I hope cars arent the only pics I will see either, and if I know you, and I do, they wont be. :D
Girls Gone Wild Jake Style!
HuJass 09-05-2003, 10:02 PM Jake,
Good pic.
Some friendly advice, though.
You should put a watermark on the pic so people will be less inclined to steal it.
The watermark could be your name placed somewhere on the vehicle but as not to obscure the details of the vehicle.
Then sell the pics. :D
IMPALA64 09-06-2003, 12:36 AM When ya click the link it says "stolen Image" Hmmm.
jakef2003 09-06-2003, 01:08 AM Jeremy: No stories of that that type, honest. Only 4 rolls of film that I need to get developed that will tell good stories on there own. :D
HuJass: thanks man, I appreciate it. If I knew how to do a watermark, I woyuld. Not too orried about that pic, but I do have several of the suspension, Interior, and...:gasp: the rear of the car with no bra!;)
I'll post a few more of the Stang and various other vehicles in the morning.

I see the point, but to me, it would be more important to keep the cars as anonymous as possible. Look at the pics of the C6 test cars that have been posted, GM was able to really mask the lines and styling of the car without the crazy zig zags and cheetah print.
SNEAKY NEIL 09-06-2003, 08:18 AM I was looking at the Mustang pic and it seems that the lines are rather tame and almost dull. Looking at those wheels, i am wondering if those will be V6 wheels or GT wheels. Also, it seems like there won't be the hood scoops like the concept and the fender flares are more subdued than the current model(not that this is really bad or good). Looking inside, there appears to be a kind of hump in the middle of the dash which doesn't go along with some of the pics we have seen of the long, flat dash top.
I'd like to see what those tail light look like.
Philsshon 09-06-2003, 09:00 AM I would be glad to watermark these pictures for you as well. I was wondering if i might have premission to use them on my site? thanks

The fender flares will stand out more when there is a solid paint on there. The lines arent OMG looking but they are tamed down from the current Mustang,Thats why they love that paint sceme so much it hides alot.
Those are base V6 wheels also. The "hump" could be anything.Testing equipment etc.It isnt clear. The hood scoops wont be on the base 6'er.
I'd like to see the "real" tail lights myself.

Some one seems a bit eager:D. You aren't the only one though. I'm wishing it's Jan 2004 already.
What's with the wait jake? Enough with the teasing. Post up.
SNEAKY NEIL 09-07-2003, 10:28 PM I don't think that paint hides too much if you study the pictures. I think what we are seeing are the toned down lines of the concept. Some were saying that the production model would look almost exactly like that concept but it sure does not(unless those are not production body panels but why wouldn't they be). Also, have we seen pictures of a GT in disguise at all or have they all been V6's?

Take the film to an INDEPENDANT camera shop. They usually have the equipment to develop all types of film including the Advantix type and they generally don't care about, <ahem> suggestive photos. :)
It may cost a little more but it's your only choice.
jakef2003 09-09-2003, 01:08 AM http://www.dfwstangs.net/hosting/JakeF/interior.jpg
Crappy pic I know, but the door was locked. Tach is farthest left, then speedo, then 3 other gauges. Temp, Fuel, Oil IIRC. The seats felt GOOD. Much better than 4th gen T/A seats, and more supportive. The pic is of a V6/auto, I sat in/drove a GT/5 speed. First mod needs to a be a shifter. No matter what. note the 3 spoke steering wheel with airbag.
http://www.dfwstangs.net/hosting/JakeF/suspension.jpg
The bar you see going across the center, is a Panhard bar. LCA's is visible to the far left. I did not see a TQ Arm, but I do know the panhard bar is new to the 05.
Rear End: Biggest thing I noticed, Center fill gas tank. Gas door looks to have a Mustang logo, off the side of a V6 car. The wing looked alot like the 03 Cobra wing. Taillights looked EXTREMELY close to current ones. I might post the pic later, trying to decide if I should try to make some $ off of it.
Branden,Philsshon Feel free to use any of the pics I have posted. I will be posting most if not all of the rest of the roll. I do want credit though;)

You are saying that you actually drove a GT 5 Speed?
How did it feel? Pretty quick? It is said to be about as quick as the LS1's, what was your impression? Did you get a chance to confirm what engine it had in it, or a pic of the engine?
Thanks for posting the pics!!

I knew it! We saw a spy shot of a Mustang and it had tail lights on it that looked like they just put the current ones on there. Some people thought they did just that, but it seems they did not. Maybe this means Ford took the more conservative route with the whole Mustang judging from the things we have been seeing.

What CrackerJack box did you get your Mustang concept photo from?It is very close.Close enough to be egronomicly suitable for daily driving.Plus this car is a 2+2 unlike the 350z which only has 2 seats so yeah they were needing to make changes for production reasons and what not.Ii have to agree with my friend. The door handle is about the only thing I can really complain about....

tgitom30 09-09-2003, 08:06 PM Guess who, I dont need your stupid remarks first off or sarcasm. Based on that pic he took the interior dash does not closely resemble the materials and same quality that the concept projected. And no wisenhighmer the concept pics ive seen are the same ones everyone else has seen and as far as i can tell were not out of a crackerjack box genius. Being a 2+2 has nothing to do with the quality or the shape of the dash board, especially the way they made this one. The materials look very basic and not to appeasing to the eye based on that pic. If it looks better for production Ill change my mind, until then I still think now it looks like garbage and very plain.

Is that a boost gauge on the A-piller? Looks to be some sort of gauge.
SNEAKY NEIL 09-09-2003, 09:30 PM I was wondering what that gauge was too and wondering why they used that cheesy blue one. I doubt it's a boost gauge because if the car needed it, the car would be equipped with one already. That is something I am sure would be incorperated into the gauge cluster.
SMUJeremy 09-09-2003, 09:33 PM The gauge on the A-pillar is probably just some kind of test equipment.

Since when have you seen a production car come EXACTLY the way the concept was????And that "mule" isnt even a "production" piece..Im certain that not all the proccesses were done on the interior.I'll agree that it looks plain. But what makes it "garbage"?
It doesnt have true aluminum.?
This car is the base 6'er.I would'nt think it would come with all the bells and whistles.
:Notice: I didnt direct the word stupid to you in my post.:/Notice:
The 2+2 remark was from me mis-reading.Excuse that.
Just like you said wait til the production piece comes out for final thoughts on materials.Im thinking you might not know exactly how the car industry goes because a mule is just that,- a mule.
Im wondering what you would say about this pic http://bilder.autobild.de/bilder/1/36751.jpg  This is more of a "mule" then the jake pic.But the zebra is still a mule..Things can still change and probably will til the car hits the streets.
Too bad Jake didnt bust the window out so we could of got a closer "inside" look:D

This is the v6 model too, so unless it too is blown, that's no boost gauge.
Its probably something temporary since the car is going through testing.

If you look at the brown pic's at Brad's site youll notice 2 differences.1- there isnt dual gauges inbetween the Tach and speedo. The other might not stand out to you as much at the top of the console,Above the radio below the clock has changed. So have the sides of the console/IP on the upwards slope to the clock to the sides of the radio.Like I said once before. The panel is close enough to the concept. The door panels have changed also.Who knows they could have differnt door panels for certain models like they did back in the day.;)
tgitom30 09-09-2003, 10:27 PM I think the brad pics are the concept interior and not the real finished car. But ok i will reserve final judgment being that i know what a mule is and understand parts can be covered, faked and all that jazz to throw people off. It would be nice to see some less plastic though that was my main gripe. So ill wait and see how the finished product comes out. I would still like to see the rest of these pics thats for sure of from this guy!
