We had a post a while back with ideas for 5th Gen Camaro commercials and there was some great stuff there from many people, including myself. :D So post what you think the next Gens returning 06/07 commercials should be.
From that thread:
Two months before they go on sale, show footage fading in and out of black of a '67 Camaro (orange, inside a garage) being uncovered and started up. Before the engine actually starts, fade to black permenantly and then just have the audio of the engine spinning to life and a couple blips of the throttle. Show the Chevy logo. 15 second ad.
About two weeks after that, show all the top of the line Camaros lined up side by side about 1.5 carwidths apart in a black room with a shiny black floor, left (oldest) to right (newest). Facing the left, have a crane shot pan back from the first gen, second gen, third gen, fourth gen, and then a fifth gen under a tan car cover, wind blowing on it.
Fade to black. Show the date of the public unveiling. 15 second ad.
Two more weeks. Show a red new Camaro at Laguna Seca or some other challenging and scenic track, with only a door/fender mounted camera. Up-tempo rock instrumental playing. Fade to black, fade in "CAMARO" logo, and above it the blue bowtie logo. 15 second ad.
Two more weeks (finally time), show most of the track shot (no music, just the engine), then a quick version of the crane shot from #2, the cover pulls off, and before you can really get an eyeful of the car, we return to the track and blend from the fender shot into a crane shot pulling back and the car (still not easy to identify due to it moving so quickly and the distance of the shot) is taking all the corners and looking just really cool. Cut to a shot of the tach, and zoom out and show the interior (quickly). Then cut back to the car coming to a stop and crane in for a closer (3/4 front) view. Hold for 5 seconds. Fade to black, "CAMARO", blue bowtie. 60-90 second ad.
After that, a few ads showing everything more up-close and detailed and (slightly) less dramatic; 'regular' ads.
92RS shearn 09-04-2003, 08:26 AM
That is a great idea, just reading that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
PacerX 09-04-2003, 08:44 AM I want a three minute and 42 second commercial with "Yankee Rose" by David Lee Roth as the background music.
It needs to be more like a music video than a commercial. Maybe even put Dave and Steve Vai in it. Somebody needs to keep Dave under control... Steve should be OK.
MINOR lyrical changes. "When she walks, watch, the sparks will fly" becomes "When she runs, watch, the sparks will fly." Camaros don't WALK.
I've been running this over and over in my head for weeks. I wish I had a computer genius who would be willing to make it with me... we could have a bitchin mpeg for download.
The Returning 5th Gen Camaro Talks To The M*****g
Later 06. (07 model year)
**Black screen then a red Chevy Bowtie appears and then goes black again, some wacky mysterious music in the background** A serious voice, "Iit all started 42 years ago with you coming out just 2 years before me." **A few fast pictures and video of M*****gs** "Your purpose was to be appealing and sporty, my purpose was to be better and defeat you." **A little light directed at an object in the complete black starts showing the lines and features of this car a tiny bit** "You were released and had great success." "Then, I came and it's been an aggressive competition that we've both always wanted to win ever since." **Video of all Gen Camaros racing street and track, taking sharp turns with no problem, the SCCA races, and just nice pictures of them looking pissed, and during this clip, the voice says..................**
"You accelerated.....I out-accelerated you.
You braked.....I out-braked you.
You handled.....I out-handled you.
You looked.....I out-looked you. For 35 years."
"Then I left. I let you have your fun, even though I didn't want to. But guess what?? That's over now.......because I'm BACK. I know you didn't think I'd let you off that easy?! And I'd start watching out again if I were you, because this time, it's not JUST gonna be more of the same, it's gonna be EVEN MORE." **Then from a black screen again the lights come on and we actually see the car now, (it's a Z28 :D ) clips of the interior, cameras go all around it fast, it starts and revvs loudly, then quickly the screen goes black again and the words and another voice appear saying "The New 5th Generation 07 Chevrolet Camaro" (whatever features/engine/whatever it has, mention of a 40th Anniversary edition, dealer information, etc., he's done giving the information and the Camaro emblem appears) then the voice from before comes back again......** "I'll be seeing you around." (With a confident laugh after that) **Then you hear a quick tire peel and WOT acceleration and that's it, black again, and back to your regularly scheduled programming)
CamaroRSguy 09-04-2003, 09:13 AM Red Mustang and Black Camaro pull up to a stop light. Enter "Back in Black" by AC/DC. Light turns, both smoke the tires, Mustang gets dusted, and the Camaro driver drives off smiling. Chevy Bowtie comes down, and says "some things never change"
NEWBIE T/A 09-04-2003, 10:44 AM * Operatic aria is being sung by fat lady in Viking style gear*
Car noises - engine revving, tires squealing, etc. heard in background & catches singer's attention.
Waaayy off in the distance , a black car can be seen heading her way.
Singing resumes, and then stops again as car approaches.
Camaro comes storming by, blowing horned hat off lady as she stands w/ jaw agape & wide-eyed.
Voiceover :
" Sometimes it's not over when the fat lady sings !!" :p
Show assorted shots as car rounds corners, etc.
"Introducing the ' ** Camaro. The car you wanted, the way you wanted. "
"Camaro - fast food for the road."
Side view of car zooming buy, then a rear shot as the car pulls away getting smaller.
Scene fades out to Bowtie image.
End.

CamaroBoy96Z28 09-04-2003, 10:46 AM An idea for a trailer/commercial:
A guy wakes up in the middle of the night walks into his living room and takes a look at a picture of him and his dad when he was a kid with a lets say 69 Z28 or SS and goes to maybe a black and white/ crappy color film maybe 2 seconds long of Camaro racing in the SCCA or something like that and a little kid next to the guy cheering in the crowd or whatever. Then he moves and looks to a picture next to it of lets say a 73 Z28 and goes a to a short little thing of him a couple years older working on the second gen with his dad. Next to that is a wedding pic of him and his wife next to his wife in an 89 IROC and shows him rolling up to get her for a date and drive off or something with a decent 80s rock song playin in the car. Finally he walks out to his garage and looks at his 2002 35th SS and walks around it about to go for a drive. All of the sudden the ground starts shaking and things are vibrating on the shelves. The guy walks outside to see whats going on. A few quick shots of someone doing a hard 3-4 shift, wheel and wheel well, but not quite a clear view of what the car looks like and maybe the Camaro emblem on the grill but nothing to give away a clear view of what the car looks like. The car blows by him and a heavy breeze hits the dude standing as the car goes by blowing his hair around and what not. Dude smiles and point of view pulls skyward into the night. Black screen, :fade in: Camaro emblem :fade out:. Display "The second coming" or "A legend reborn" or something then maybe a date like 9-07 or whatever. It could all be crammed into 2 or 3 min maybe less or split each section up into a 15-30 second ad and then display the Camaro emblem and the words after each and do it like a series.

I've been putting that together in my head for a couple months and would be really sweet looking if I was able to put it together for real though.
Another one after the inital launch (casual commercial):
Some kid in a really riced out import is sitting at a light (looks like F&F car, stickers, bright neon green/orange and what not) listening to some thug rap. 5th gen rolls up next to it with deep tint or tinted enough where you cant see the driver. Ricer revs his fart can up. 5th gen revs loud and deep and blows out the Ricer's windows. Ricer looks over and is about to cry. Next over is the new style Mustang and the driver looks over and has a worried face then quickly proceeds to turn squeeling tires to get the hell out of there. 5th gen rolls down the window and there is an extremely hot chick maybe even a well known supermodel or something behind the wheel. She blows the ricer loser a kiss, light turns green and drives away. Pan to a shot of the ricer in shock, airbag blows in his face and pan out. Screen fades to black with Camaro emblem in background then your leasing info, incentives and all that stuff.
Can't remember if I had posted this one but I remember having some ideas in my head at that time..anyways here is mine (albeit a moderation of everything above, but was seriously what I was thinking)
we start off at a local gathering of all the ricers and on the left we have the imports and on the right we have the domestics. (2 seconds very quickly only to provide a hint of the theme)
then we see a race but not very clearly as you can only see the window and a loser driving a domestic beating up on the ricers.. he seems to be the champ and gets really cocky picking races with everyone and revving... the from a side angle shot (still only the window and the face/side) at a stop light... a mystery car appears behind with deep tinted windows... the guys rolls it down... the driver smirks and then rolls the window up... (bullet time shot moving quickly to the bottom right (bumper of stang) and then the "other" car and then slows down (you know how bullet time works) right on the tips... black screen
we hear someone say go..tires chirp for a while and the sound of the engine then dorwns everything... pan back to the driver of the stang with a surprised look on his face...
black screen...
rumble idling sound in the back with a quick rev...
fade in "the legends back so run horsie" fade out - fade in "chevy"
finally a quick shot of the emblem
As for background music I think silence all the way in the beg. and then when the race is on Metallica ' Fuel... and then when it's done a hollow effect to create a sense of mystery with the car...
That is it what do you all think??

NICE!
I would make a commercial that had "Back in the Saddle Again" as the backround music. I think it would fit the theme.
I'm partial to "Are you gonna go my way" for the track scene, personally.
Jackass 09-04-2003, 11:49 AM GOOD STUFF PEOPLE!!
A guy is driving a black 1st gen ss down woodward ave. at night. As he is driving down the road a black 2nd gen turns onto woodward and follows the 1st gen. As those two are driving a black 3rd gen turns onto woodward and follows them. Next is the 4th gen. Now you have four generations of camaro driving down woodward. The next thing you see is a black 5th gen turn onto woodward and following the other 4.
You can have a line that says:
The new 5th generation camaro: let the tradition continue.
It's kind of a heritage based idea for a commercial. I also think it would be a cool idea for a c6 commercial.
If all else fails, show a camaro smoking a mustang. That would piss ford off;)
Gripenfelter 09-04-2003, 02:25 PM Introducing the 2018 Camaro Z28...the car you wanted as kid.
We finally got our **** together.
:D
Mutiny32 09-04-2003, 05:59 PM Commercial starts out pitch black.
*queue beginning of AC/DC's "Hell Bells"*
Then right when the guitar drops down three notes, fade in the yellow running lights in front.
then as it gets to the main part of the song, right when the guitars and drumbs start, zoom in quickly to the front of the black car, and then have a huge camaro emblem on the front of the car, the only other things you can see is that it's on the front of a car. Then queue some sort of revving and make the screen shake, and then flash to another black screen that says "Chevy. We'll Be There.
Coming soon.
SFireGT98 09-04-2003, 06:21 PM Dang you guys are really decent at this. GM should definetly do some pre launch commercials for the Camaro though, Mazda did with the Mazda6 and it seemed everyone knew what a Mazda6 was by the time it came out. with Camaro, it could have a much greater effect being everyone already knows what a Camaro is but then they'll know that its back.
Keep the good ideas coming :thumb:
The following assumptions apply:
1) GM actually gets off their ass and does another camaro.
2) They actually decide to advertise this one.
Commercial starts..
Just a camera pointed around a sharp curve with limited visibility. Aerosmiths "back in the saddle again" starts ramping up. A First Gen roars by, followed immmediately by second, third and forth gen cars. Then a pause. Just as the song really hits and they scream "back in the saddle again" the 5th gen roars by and the camera follows it.
PS - for the record I don't think they should show it zooming around a race track. That's been done a bazillion times before by everyone from Hyundai to Volvo.
unvc92camarors 09-04-2003, 06:33 PM great job with everyone that's posted:thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
i think i like the 2nd reply a lot, forget who wrote it
also, not much for the whole ricer thing being in the commercial
we're trying to convey an image more respected than just blowing ricers away, a mustang sure, a civic, nah
good ideas though, keep em coming guys
Mutiny32 09-04-2003, 07:06 PM On mine, with the Chevy. We'll be there. And the Coming soon, put the Chevvy. We'll be there slogan at the end, and before that, put "The Legend Has Returned"
centric 09-04-2003, 11:54 PM Okay, here are a couple of thoughts . . . one aimed at "us" and one aimed at
"them." The estrogen version may suck, because I know very little about what motivates common, garden-variety women.
Testosterone commercial--
Fade in: Nuremburgring. Foggy day.
Cue BG music: ominous.
VO: When we have something to prove, we come to Nuremburgring, Germany.
Cut between curves with wet track steaming
VO: We took the best race drivers in the world.
Show drivers and names.
VO: Gave them the best cars Germany and Japan had to offer.
Show cars and names on racetrack (M3, EVO, G35, S4—or something like that).
VO: And offered them a million dollars if they could beat our challenger.
Car screams by in background, unrecognizable.
VO: They had the skill. They had the equipment. They had the motivation.
Cars on track.
VO: And . . . they . . . all . . . lost.
Cut between unnamed car passing each of the challengers – one for each word.
Long slow-motion pan of unnamed car passing finish line—we get our first good look at it, but it’s still not named.
VO: The winner? The reborn 2007 Camaro. American performance, redefined.
Tracking shot of it slowing, turning around to face the camera. Linger on hero as music crescendos.
Fade to Chevy and Camaro logo.
VO: Chevrolet . . . the pulse has quickened.
Fade out.
Estrogen commercial:
Fade in: Café/coffee shop interior, day. Girl is sitting with friends talking cars. They’re clearly trying to pursuade her to buy something "practical."
Friend 1: You should get a Civic!
Girl rolls her eyes and we get daydream of what having a Civic is like . . . at first, it’s cool, she’s boppin along to some music, but then the Civic metamorphoses into a minivan, she gains 30 lbs, and her fat, boring hubby pops his head in the side window to remind her that they need milk at the store.
She comes back to the coffee shop and shakes head.
Friend 2: Get a Escape (or other cute-ute)!
Another daydream, this one where the Escape turns into a ridiculously exaggerated monster SUV that she can’t park, people are yelling at her, telling her to learn how to drive.
Friend 3: Get a . . .
Just then, a bright red car flashes by outside the coffee shop. Camera tracks and shows it being driven by a girl who looks a lot like her.
Another daydream: this time, she’s driving that bright red car through an Angelina Jolie-style action fantasy, complete with muscular hero who jumps in her car as she speeds away.
She comes back to the coffee shop, smiling.
Cut to exterior of new Camaro.
VO: It has the power to move you.
Cut to interior of new Camaro.
VO: It has a style all its own.
Cut to driving shot with girl from coffee shop.
VO: It’s not the same old thing. The 2007 Camaro. Powerful. Stylish. Even a little bit practical.
Fade to Chevy and Camaro logo.
VO: Chevrolet . . . the pulse has quickened.
Fade out.
0toinsanein5.4sec 09-05-2003, 12:10 AM K here is my idea: Its one long cinematic commercial cut into parts, but at the official unveiling the whole thing will be put together as one total is 3 minutes
The first part, 45 seconds, 1.5 months before unveiling:
You see a black 2002 SS at a local street racing scene. It shows a few high adrenaline races and then the cops come. And everyone scatters, and the cops get everyone except the SS bc it was too fast. You see the SS racing through the streets. Then ending part (Fade to black. Fade to a slightly modernized Camaro emblem with no music.)
Second part, 45 seconds, 1 month before unveiling:
You see the black SS again. It is racing in the streets (continuing from part 1) and ends up at a house and backs into the garage. It is pitch black outside, and you can basically only see the headlights. The headlights and engine turn off at the same time. Fade to black. Then you hear a slow heart beat in the background and a narrator says, "After 35 years of stomping the competition, on August 27th, the Camaro took a little rest." And you see the SS dream, and the dream consists of ricers saying typical ricer bs excuses or bagging on Camaros (maybe) And the heartbeat gradually increases, as if the SS is getting pissed off. Cut to narrator again, "After a long rest, the Camaro is back and is pissed off." Cut scene to camera going across the back of a bright red Camaro SS for a brief second in the same garage. This will give the viewer just enough time to read "Camaro" on the back. With the sound of a very loud bad ass sounding engine, almost screaming as the camaera pans the back of the car. Cut to ending part (read end of part 1)
Third part, 15 seconds, .5 monts before unveiling:
You see the end of part two again (to link the two together) then you take the view of a side mounted camera showing the front wheel/fender and the Camaro is driving out of the garage. Then from a distance away on the street (so you cant see details of the car) Then you see the new Camaro peeling out and fishtailing out of the driveway and goes away from the camera on the street hauling ass. During this, you see as the Camaro leaving same house as before. Fade to black, Narrator says, "Watch out, it just woke up and is very hungry." Fade to ending scene
Fourth part, 1 minute, a few days after the unveiling:
You see from a different, much closer angle of the same ending scene as the third part. meanwhile you hear metallicas frantic starts playing in the background:
If I could have my wasted days back
Would I use them to get back on track?
Stop to warm at karmas burning
Or look ahead, but keep on turning?
Then your ahead of the Camaro looking back at it and hear: Do I have the strength
To know how I'll go?
Then it uses computer effects to go through the front and u see the engine and the cylinders firing (GTA3 intro style) and at the bottom of the screen it says SS: 400 hp N/A V8 (if the SS was top, replace with Z28 if Z28 is top) while you hear:
Can I find it inside
To deal with what I shouldn't know?
Then at the end of those lines you see it go back out of the Camaro this time from the back and shows the tailights (bc it will never see taillights so thats what it shouldnt know)
SKip a little in the song to these lines:
Keep searching, keep on searching
This search goes on, this search goes on
Meannwhile u see the Camaro driving around searching for a fight (race) and when it finds one (new mustang) and they get lined up they go. then you see crazy angles in the in a frantic mode changing views fast and what not and showing the Camaro stomping the mustang while you hear:
Frantic tick tick tick tick tick tick tock
Frantic tick tick tick tick tick tick tock
End
danno02SS 09-05-2003, 12:11 AM A typical two car garage door opens revealing two covered cars. A man makes his way toward a work bench at the front of the garage. The work bench has been cleared of all tools and car mag-articles are plastered all over the particle board backing were hooks are used to hang misc. stuff. The camera pans from article to article; "Mustang wins the pony car race", "2003 SVT Cobra, the new street king", any articles containing Colletti Camaro quotes, ...etc. The man reaches the bench and his hands are seen tearing and crushing the articles away from the backing <Yes, it is a rip-off of the Boxer motivational motif>. The man then goes to the covered car directly in front of where the articles used to reside and takes the car cover off (swiftly not much of the car is seen). The camera cuts to a scene of the car backing out from the garage driveway onto the street and tearing off down the road (from within the garage as the door is closing, once again not revealing too many details of the car). Music Starts Morphine:Buena. The camera cuts to a Dragstrip were said Camaro is doing a hellaish burnout. I hear a voice from the back off the room, I hear a voice cry-out you want something GOOD. All sorts of camera angles are taken as it stages and it's identity is finally revealed. SS LS7 timed to occur on the Come on little closer I've got something to say. The car stages. The yellows hit on the GOOD, GOOD, GOOD prior to the SAX solo. The car tears down the track as the solo is going on. A crane shot tracks the car alternating with internal camera shots of the TACH, Speedo, and Shifter. The car reaches the 1/4, the music fades, and the camera pans to the timer: 12.43@116. An Omnious voice comes in "Its back, and it's pissed". Fade to Chevy and Camaro logo.
I'll post the Z28 one tomorrow.
LOL, some of these would never make TV because of all the "questionable" driving on the street. :) :D
0toinsanein5.4sec 09-05-2003, 03:44 PM lol we can still dream cant we?:p
SMUJeremy 09-05-2003, 09:38 PM Yeah, most of those are great ideas. I seriously doubt, however, there will be any 'streetracing' commercials, by 2007, they will probably give you the chair for streetracing.
Fade in on random wooded country road. A driveway can be seen to the side. Two young males are washing a brand new silver 2005 Mustang GT. You can hear broken bits of conversation "man I bet this thing is fast. When is Mike getting here?"
Begin fade-in of dull engine roar.
Camera cuts to nose cam of a car speeding through the country road. Engine roar gradually increases.
With each shift, camera shows split-second snapshots of engine bay, wheels, shifter, etc.
Guys washing mustang look around them to see where the sound is coming from.
Back to nose cam of car. As the driveway comes up in the distance, que 5-3-2 downshift.
Camera pans around guys as they drop their sponges and stare. Engine roar is all that can be heard. One of the guys looks at the mustang, then back at the car in the driveway. Camera slowly pulls back, hugging the arriving car, just enough to show the Z28 logo behind passenger side tailllight.
Fade to black. Fade in logo:
"It's on."
GN1270 09-08-2003, 08:08 PM Not gonna see a GM commercial with the words "fat lady" in it...(alotta fat people buy GM cars, will never see a commercial with a drag race in it, prolly will never see one with a mustang in it (too close to the competition) usually they will use a high dollar car that their target audience cannot afford. They sound great to us though.
Evil Turbo SS 09-08-2003, 09:26 PM Ok, I was thinking about this, here goes my Idea.
First you show a 1st gen Camaro (69) at the strip. Pro street style rumbbling the earth. Crazy slicks ect.. with your traditional, blue jeans, white t-shirt and side burns. Show the car making a crazy pass...
Next a second Gen pulls up, lets make it one of thoes late 70s slow as all hell camaros, The guy driving.... Your typicl 70s dude, bell bottoms and all.... car just slowly goes down the track..
Third gen pulls up..... The "Italian with gold chains and a hairy chest driving it. Makes a decent pass...
Fourth gen pulls up, 18-22 kid driving it, playing that techno music, car makes a killer pass......
Now for the 5th gen, Car pulls up, driving it, is a man in his 40s50s. Makes his pass playing classical music (show same et as the 69) Showing the interior/exterior. Have the guy pull around get out of the car and thats when is son (the guy driving the 4th gen) this time a little older more "educated" looking. The son says to the father.. "Don't make me fight you for the keys this again" or something along thoes lines.
Chuck! 09-08-2003, 10:42 PM In black and white: a 69 SS and a 68 Stang with 2 25 year olds driving stage at a track, the camera zooms does a 180 around the front of the cars and then flips to a rear shot. The light drops green and the camera shows the driver of the camaro launching. Right when he grabs 2nd the commerical goes to color and the interior changes to the 5th gen with a different 25 year old driving, it zooms out the window and goes to a front 3/4ths view of the Camaro and watches it pull 3 cars on a new Stang and finish. The whole time the only noise is the Camaro's engine and a heartbeat. Right after he crosses the line the announcer says "Now you know how your father felt. The all new 2007 Camaro, redefining the legend."

sweet:bow:
i'd really like to see that, especially when it would transform from the 69 to the 0*
once again, great idea
Evil Turbo SS 09-09-2003, 01:49 AM Ok Give me another shot guys. This one is simple and kind of borrowed.....
Short ad......15-25 seconds...
You have a 5th gen Camaro painted like the classic penski #6 Camaro. You take old footage of the legendary # 6 camaro in black and white. Erase the car from the footage and replace with the new Gen 5 Camaro in color. Just the scream of the engines racing. Then have a black and white Mark Donohue climb out of the car. then go to a black screen, silent and the words "A Legend then on the track, a Legend now in your own home" Then back to a blazing race scene with the Origanal car.
This ad should be followed by the GM anouncement that they will race the Fth gen Camaro.
Rajun Cajun 09-11-2003, 02:32 PM I'm sorry I lost all track of time reading that! I was so caught up into the vision! Excuse me now I have to go and take a cold shower! Just the thought of GM bringing them back the way that you discribed has me overly excited!!! Tell them to do it!
Mutiny32 01-09-2004, 09:35 AM Sorry to ressurrect this thread, but I couldn't stop thinking about a perfect conmmercial this morning.
Here goes...
Start wth an all black screen. Then fade in a camera pan a low-lit side of the car, extremely close up. You can see the curves of the car, but you can't quite tell what it is. Then have the screen have sort of "flashbacks" to a scene filled with that familiar sound of a Chevy V8 engine racing. At the same time, have the screen filled with an out-of-focus red car flying down some sort of track in the desert. The camera is shaking, and there is like a glare coming off of the car, so there is no real definition of what the car is, except that it's red and is a Chevy. Have a heartbeat slowly fade in from the beginning of the commercial and speed up. Then the flashbacks get more and more frequent, the heart is racing and just about when everything sounds like it's getting to a climax, everything just stops and goes silent and black. Pause a few seconds. Fade in the words "An American Legend..." pause a second, then have the words in a different cont and color come on saying "Reborn." Fade in the Camaro emblem. Fade out.
I have to start off by saying that you all have some great ideas. It's clear that you all have great enthusiasim for the Camaro, past, present and future. There is only one problem, and I don't say this out of ignorance because I work in the Film and Television community. Some idiot will be hired to create the commercial, and have no idea what the Camaro means to the people who own them. Chances are he or she will follow some car trend or popular movie and turn it into a joke. Commercial Agencies are run by ego driven, insecure monkeys who need to be complimented on everything from the brand of toilet paper they use, to the smell of their arm pit.
I hope whoever gets the commercial (which might be Maclaren/Macan) will read your posts and think about what the owners want to see.
I feel better now.

Joe K. 96 Zeee!! 01-09-2004, 01:40 PM Once introduced, I'd love to see a series of commercials done comparing Camaro to the competion in different areas. They could explain briefly why the Camaro is better.....
Example...
Suspension. IRS vs. Rear axle is pretty simple with pictures and then follow with a few numbers (track times, skidpad, etc.)
Power.
Chassis/durability.
Convenience/utility.
Each topic is a lot to cram into a 30 sec. spot. But it could also be put into magazines, newspapers, slides in movie theaters, etc....And it could make a good case and maybe even educate some people.

I love it
Although hopefully they'll be more than one Camaro commercial out there.

And I'd start watching out again if I were you, because this time, it's not JUST gonna be more of the same, it's gonna be EVEN MORE." **Then from a black screen again the lights come on and we actually see the car now, (it's a Z28 ) clips of the interior, cameras go all around it fast, it starts and revvs loudly, then quickly the screen goes black again and the words and another voice appear saying "The New 5th Generation 07 Chevrolet Camaro" (whatever features/engine/whatever it has, mention of a 40th Anniversary edition, dealer information, etc., he's done giving the information and the Camaro emblem appears) then the voice from before comes back again......** "I'll be seeing you around." (With a confident laugh after that) **Then you hear a quick tire peel and WOT acceleration and that's it, black again, and back to your regularly scheduled programming)
Where do I sign? Cause I'm sold on this. You have a great way with words IZ28. I could totally visualize this entire commercial.
I've always had a chevy commercial, not really pertaining specifically to the camaro.
There's a classy dress party/get together. There's a group of ladies standing around talking about the latest movies and such while they're looking at all the guys. While they're talking they're checking out some of the business men there. There's an Oval shaped tie that looks really out of place, a ram/chrysler type tie that's a clip on that falls off and then a guy with a bowtie shaped like the chevy bowtie. Next shot is outside in the parking area. The camera goes over a Ford T-bird, Mustang, Chrysler Crossfire, and the like. It ends at a black Corvette with one of the ladies having the passenger side door opened for her. The guy closes the door and adjusts his tie walking around to the drivers side of the car. He gets in and begins to back out when the other guys walk out. He waves goodbye to them and the Corvette leaves.
Voice comes in. The ladies dig the bowtie. Chevy....Always There.
RaycerX96 01-10-2004, 05:49 AM Hi guys Im new, and I love the F-body Im primarily on here for my moms 95 Z28 Convt, I had 4 f-bodies of my own at one point, but now Im down to 2.
Now here would be the greatest and most simple commercial for the new Camaro
the car rolls out on the a stage with a cover on it, Tim Allen grabs the cover and pulls it off and show the car with that famous grunt
enuff said.
neversummer 01-10-2004, 06:07 AM My .02
Chevy / Gm has got US already. (Who isn't saving already for the next F-bod?!) They will and need to focus some effort on the "others". I don't think old school rock and roll will sell. It would only perpetuate the image of "F-dudes" or mullet cars etc. Wasn't the 4th gen introduced w/ 2 girls driving free on the open road with the slogan "from the country that invented rock and roll"? So maybe play off that with the country that redefines R&R redifined this car etc (it's near 4 in the morning, can't think of anything catchier!) and use some new music? Whatever is hot in 200X, use.
It's a fresh car, it needs a fresh start. There are some ties or "myths" that need to be broken and left behind. GM needs to target 25-35 (they have money) singles. Married folk sell sport cars because they are impractical for a family. Unless you're a DINC - double income no children.
But of course I'd love to see all of the suggestions so far. Cuz I'm a Male who craves those sort of things.
It's been done already, but I loved that Porsche commercial with the old man who fell into a coma for decades finally awoke and took a sunday drive in his 1960ish? Porsche and saw the young guy in the new porsche and they both said holy moly. Anyway it was great.
Scattered thoughts and long post, at least a long time to write it! (now it's past 4 am!) Umm, I was gonna say just show us the car and some women cuz sex still sells, but that doesn't contribute much now does it :p so by morning I'll have an ad campaign for ya!
MentalCaseOne 01-10-2004, 06:38 AM How about this.... The Arizona desert.. noon on a hot day.. a gentle wind blowing across the rocks... a Lizard slowly moving across the road suddenly rushes off and you hear a hizzing sound in the distance..... Camera angle low, facing across the road with a dramatic desert backround. The Hizzing sounds gets louder and then "Wham!!" a supercharged mustang flys-by infront of the camera....The camera angle goes to a Helicopter view, you see Two Cars going at insane speeds... Its a Police High speed Chase, you hear the radio fron the helicopter..."It's all yours Bravo One" "Roger, red dog" the other one responds.
screen goes black for just a moment and then, Camera switches to a mounted on the rear driver side fender view just behind the car. Both come to a full stop. Cop steps out of this Awesome muscle car.. surround sounds kicks in and you hear the un-mistakeable sound of full blooded Detroit power. Camera view switches to a left side view of the police officer standing inches infront of his vehicle. only from the waist down.... he Shouts it's over...... step out of your car", walks forward and out of view... right then infront of you dead center the camera closes in and you see a big Z28 Badge.
The screen goes black and a voice say... cause some things never change.
Silently the word Camaro flashes on the screen before it goes black again.
:)
Rice Eater 316 01-10-2004, 01:38 PM Black screen
Korn's "Blind" starts playing...
During the intro cymbal tapping show quick shots of gen 1-4...
then when "ARE YOU READY" hits have a low angle shot of camaro flying over camera
End with black screen, engine idling and bowtie

Wierd I was thinking of something similar last night while trying to fall asleep. I thought of the 4th Gen Camaro poster with the B4C Camaro "Here speeder speeder". I think a great 2nd commercial for a 5th Gen would be a Mustang to blow past a police Camaro, the Policeman smile and head after him. The mustang driver looks in his mirror and sees the camaro catching him, slams his fist against the wheels.... Cuts to the officer writing a ticket. Something along these lines shows the capibility of a Camaro to catch a Mustang without a controversal street racing scene.;) But I think this should be a 2nd commercial, not the only one for the 'maro.
Blu Beast 01-11-2004, 12:47 AM Black screen fades slowly into a mid-30's something morning, phone ringing in the background...wife says something that you cant quite make out as he grabs a quick drink and goes off to work...(fade to black)...fade into him (shot of his back) walking down crowded hall with co-workers hurring by, he rounds the corner and is greeted with a stack of paper on his desk...(fade to black)...fade in of shot of his arm turning off his light to his office, slowly walking down the hall out the parking garage, the only sounds are his footsteps echoing in the somewhat empty garage and the keys jingling as he walks, just then a quick rev makes him turn, close up shot as he looks to his right in super slow motion, quick shot to the front wheels rolling slowly, the badge reading Z28(or SS)....a slow building synth music chrous builds in the background as the the shot goes back up to just his jaw as it starts to drop.....the keys fall slowly to the ground, you see a front shot of just his right leg as his pants start to get wet...(fade to Black).....
voice over: Next time.......make a pit stop........pause.....
WE did!........
chrome Font Camaro logo fades in for 2 seconds, then fades out
(tag line fades in)......not the same old, same old........comming soon, again! (and then the date).....

JoeliusZ28 01-11-2004, 08:57 PM Dang, some of these are real good. Especially yours IZ28.
JasonD 01-12-2004, 01:13 AM I imagine this one very often, I have been for a couple of years now, and came up with a few but one I really like.
One thing I alsways thought would be AWESOME for a killer "teaser" commercial.
You want chills? Picture this...
Duration: 2 seconds
Screen starts out all black and fades into a night scene resembling an empty desert, but since it is dark it is hard to tell.
Duration: 4 seconds
As things fade into view, the viewer is presented with an empty highway going from the viewer's point of view into the distance. There is a distant horizon that the highway leads to and disappears past. The camera starts to move down the highway. Very dark, very quiet...except...
Duration: 2 seconds
...For a slight rumble.
Thunder? Maybe...
Duration: 3 secondsThe camera continues moving down the road...almost creeping and the viewer is experiencing this in the first-person. It is slowly but surely picking up speed.
Duration: 3 seconds
A quick lightning strike on the horizon...outlining the roofline of something in the distance. The camera is picking up speed, and the sound of rushing wind is faintly evident, just like the wind noise while accelerating in a car.
Then a male voice-over sounds a calm but still informative voice as the camera moves.
The voice says...
Duration: 5 seconds
Storm experts classify the most powerful tornado as an F5.
Duration: 5 seconds
Camera moving faster now. Wind noise is getting louder and there is another odd rumble that quickly fades in and out. Thunder again? Perhaps...
Duration: 2 seconds
Another lignthing strike in the distance, illuminating only a hint the object that is down the road, but since the camera has been moving, it is ominously closer. Wind noise has picked up more, along with the mysterious rumble fading in and back out again.
Duration: 7 seconds
An F5 can sweep the land clear of just about anything, and those who have seen one know it is a force to be feared. It is the most powerful of its kind that has ever been witnessed.
Duration: 5 seconds
Camera really picking up speed now. Wind noise is getting much more prominent.
More lightning. Two stikes this time, one from each side of the screen and the object is clearly the outline of a car. More thunder.
Duration: 2 seconds
An F5 is coming.
Duration: 4 seconds
Camera is picking up speed at an alarming rate. Wind noise is getting louder. Rumble is constant and increasing in volume as well.
Much more lightning. Several stikes this time, and now the car in the distance is close enough to not need the lightning to show the faint outline.
Duration: 2 seconds
Are you ready?
Duration: 3 seconds
Camera is moving at an incredible speed. Wind noise has turned into a howl. Rumble is as loud as wind noise, and mixed in with it. Side of the road is now a blur.
The camera is rapidly approaching the car with the feeling of unstoppable force, and suddenly with the accelerating speed, the camera is right upon the front of the car, with one final bolt of lightning striking right upon the nose of it...
Duration: 3 seconds
...Where the camera completely freezes on the nose emblem of the car, lightning still immunimating and slightly electrifying it. Everything has stopped. all motion, all sound has immediately ceased. Just a freeze-frame of the nose emblem lit up by that last bolt of lighting.
It is the familiar Camaro emblem.
Duration: 1.5 seconds
Fades out to darkness again. Sound of thunder begins...
Duration: 1.5 seconds
In the center of the dark screen, the following text logos fade in:
CAMARO
by Chevrolet
Sound of thunder blends into the rumble of a powerful engine and tapers off.
Duration: 5 seconds
The All-New Chevrolet Camaro. Bring on the storm.
(all fades out)
END.
It could also work with the camera stationary and the car moving toward it instead of the other way around, but some some reason, it doesn't seem to work out as well when I imagine it that way.
They don't even need a new version of the car to make this work at this point. That is why it is a teaser. Later commercials could follow the same theme, but adding a bit more visual hints of the car with each new commercial until the final commercial shows the whole car, camera rotating around it and then the car suddenly just disappears, travelling down the road.
I think it would be AWESOME and would really get the buzz going. Can you imagine seeing a commercial like this? How can you NOT talk about it? How can you NOT start fantasizing about what the F5 will be? It would be IMPOSSIBLE not to.
Hey GM, I know you are reading this. I need a job.
Bring on the storm.

97Whitez28 01-12-2004, 11:29 PM I still have the goosebumps and hair standing up on the back of my neck from Jason's commercial....it is brilliant!
Death's.Stalker 01-13-2004, 06:22 PM the comercial starts with a bright sunrize between two mountains as the camera hauls booty into the sunrize, this makes the sun seem to accelerate it's raising speed.
Then the music kicks in, its "primal concrete sledge" from pantera, just as the singer "phill" says "come and be with me live my twisted dream rolled in bones and flesh,TIME FOR PRIMAL CONCRETE SLEDGE" it comes blazing between the mouns on a road that has revealed it's self, sporting it/s steal bumpered front end with 19 inch rims special made for the first modle of the 5th gen by centerline ,floating on special made micky tompsons.
the car is of course black, while it passes you you see the side of the car but it happens so fast you arent possitive but you are quite certian it says "Irocz28"the camera turns withthe car so you can barely get a glimps of the rear end proudly advertizing "twin turbo 350" and either side of teh logo you see the through body 3" pipes.
The comercial lasts less than 15 seconds showing the car, but the next 30 seconds it flashes the best of the previouse 4 gens . and ends withteh last 15 seconds just showing teh camaro logo and fading the song out till black screen.... then starts the walmart comercial.
MentalCaseOne 01-13-2004, 08:26 PM Camaro guy gets out of his Camaro steps to the Cobra and punches the hot blond right in the face.
 Dude is your ex-wife a blonde? :D
Mark IXZD 150 01-15-2004, 01:19 PM Heres' my version:
Opening camera shot: View of ceiling in a hospital corridor as the viewer is being wheeled quickly into the ER. Fluorescent light fixtures and ceiling tiles wizz by. Voices in background are typical ER jargin - not looking good...
Cut to overhead view of patient: Unconscious victim has oxygen mask, wires, etc... zoom in... fade to his mind's eye as views of his life flash by including childhood memories including Dad's '67 Camaro - jump to high school, his girlfriend and his own '76 Camaro - jump to adulthood with his wife and kids with their '02 Camaro SS... then his last recollection: His view of a newspaper front page headline, "THE CAMARO IS BACK!" Fade to black...
Cut back to overhead view of his face as he gasps a giant breath of air and his eyes glare wide open as he regains consciousness.
Deep narrator voice says, "Some things are worth living for."
Fade to black: Bowtie and Camaro logo appear.
