What material is your diff composed of?

Are your guys diffs iron or steel or what?

I'm looking for an 8.5" diff for my 93 Z28. I was gonna weld on the torque arm mount and was wondering how hard it would be to weld it onto the 70-81 diffs.

Are Grand National Diffs the same?

It will be a challenge, the center section is cast iron. I have seen someplace where a bracket was fabbed to bolt to the housing, but I don't remember where. You would be better off to use a 9" Ford, since their housing is steel, and you also have the carrier bolts to attach to.

Call Currie, Moser, etc... someone who's already fabbed a strong(er) rear end housing which'll direct bolt into a 4th gen car.

The amount of fab work required to adapt a different rear end into your car would cost more than buying one already built.

I think the 12 bolt is nice & strong, as strong as the ford. I think the stronger rear end is the Dana 44 or Dana 60.

Stock ford 9" rear ends don't have c-clips and they're easier to swap rear end gears. When you buy a rear end already fabbed up, one of the things they'll do is eliminate the c-clips anyway (if buying a GM style rear end this is important), plus provide axles.
