383 to 396 stroker

I understand this may not be an advanced question, but I'm looking for accurate information to help me decide on my dilemma...

I have a 383 stroker bored over .030 with 6" rods. I have the block dissassembled and ready to be honed, cleaned, and assembled back to a 383.
If I want to make it into a 396, what do I need to do?
Do I bore the block, and replace the crank/rods?
Just wondering what's the cost/parts involved.

Goose,

You are probably going to have to have the block clearanced more, aftermarket oil pan, and a new crank.

And new pistons. A 383 with a 6" rod needs a taller compression height than a 396 setup does.

The pistons will have to be custom pistons, because the only off the shelf 396 piston is the SRP one for a 5.85" rod.

To me I'd spend the money that you would spend on the new crank and pistons on some head porting and intake porting, maybe a Soild Roller or Hydra Rev Kit.
