1st and goal 08-29-2003, 02:21 AM Well, I'm up to 2 1/2 now as I picked up an LS-1 yesterday (I figure "the Cav" only count's as a 1/2 a Z)
www.geocities.com/marc94z/ls1.html
Why you ask:confused:
A) tired of chasing gremlins on the 94
B) should have done this 2 years ago when I blew up the other one
C) see "A"
Haven't give up on the old girl as it's a love/hate relationship but **** it "the cav" is not cutting the mustard as a daily driver and I'm not getting any younger.
It's nice to have something that doesn't rattle and make all kinds of noise and drives smooth. Hell it feels like it screams as I've never really gotten on "the 94" (as it will forever be referred to from now on ;)) with the new combo.
It's got chrome wheels, leather, t-tops all the good options, has a lid and flowmaster catback, otherwise it's stock and going to remain that way!! I would not put a blower on this car if someone gave me one.......not that I regret putting the blower on the 94 but I've already got one race car / money pit and am looking forward to having a driver.
Looking forward to taking it to New England's premier dyno and tuning facility (www.nedyno.com) and seeing what the old girl (err new girl :D) is made of ;)
Marc
My84Z 08-29-2003, 08:45 AM bout time you grew up and got a ls1 :p j/k nice purchase and once you get the 94 all set you can now strip it and make it a full race car.
5-liter-eater 08-29-2003, 09:11 AM AWESOME.
Slowhawk 08-29-2003, 09:16 AM I don't believe my eye's:eek:
Bout time you woke up and bought a real car:D (just kidding)
TTA89 08-29-2003, 09:22 AM  :D
1st and goal 08-29-2003, 10:15 AM Thanks guys;)
Thought I'd get similar responces out of the LS-1 crowd but I must have offended the "old school" LT-1 boys as none of them have responded  Geez.....
Still adjusting to life back in the USA, woke up at 1 am last night and just sat there....hode hode ho:rolleyes:
My84Z,
Yup, that thought had crossed my mind. Hell it'll only cost me $80 for a 20# pulley :D
Somehow it just doesn't seem right that you can spend the same amount of money for a whole car as you can spend on a long block:
bowtiepwr 08-29-2003, 10:26 AM >Traitor ! well atleast you got another Camaro .
what color is the Cavalier ? are you trying for an all red garage :) ?
96Z28SS 08-29-2003, 11:04 AM Congrads!!
You'll be modding it before you know it. I don't care what you say.
Morgan SS 08-29-2003, 11:28 AM nice ride marc.

>Yeah what he said :D
My84Z 08-29-2003, 11:50 AM the 94 it's the only one with low enough power to make it anywhere in the snow :p
Dean77 08-29-2003, 12:32 PM Congrats!

chevy94c 08-29-2003, 05:43 PM Congrats on the new ride Marc. Have fun
bpm2k 08-30-2003, 08:26 AM Marky Mark....you've been busy!!! It's Bill with the green Vortech Z....or should I say used to have the green Z....it's long gone now.
Picking up my new ride today too....87 Grand National....it has a 160 thermostat and will probably run low 11s if I can learn how to tune it....maybe even a high 10 if miracles happen. :D
The 94 not going well? It looks like you have a few new parts on it that's for darn sure!!! Talk to you later...hope everything else is going well.

Whats done to the car? GN's are fun but remember they are NOT V8s. Anything that you do to a V8 will make a GN run like crap.
Good Luck
bpm2k 08-30-2003, 09:57 AM :D Done to the car? Why whatever do you mean...it's stock!
Mod list includes:
Rebuilt .030 over shortblock JE pistons...ARP fasteners.
John Craig TE-61 turbo
Lucas 009 injectors
Walbro 340 pump hotwired
Ported irons 1.77 and 1.5 valves
Poston downpipe
stainless ds header and crossover
Hooker 2.5" dual exhaust
Ruggles 205/210 cam (very mild cam specs)
Be-Cool Radiator with AZ GN dual fan setup
Jay Carter street chip in it currently.
Trans has been rebuilt using PTS parts
PT9*11 2800 stall converter
Overall it is in really nice shape inside and out. I just need to figure the car out...good thing is....in Georgia....winter is almost non-existent. :D Gives you lots of time to practice.
The only thing I am really considering doing to it are a set of MSD 50s and a better downpipe but I want to run it as is first and see for myself. First mod is going to be Direct Scan or Turbo Link so I can just start seeing what goes on inside the thing. I have seen cars with mods like these claim to run high 10s on TB and I have seen cars like this run high 12s on TB so I figure the weak link is me. :D
I was thinking of buying Tim Barnums TTA as he has dropped the price to 8500 and the stealth factor of those cars is pretty cool as you know but I have always wanted a GN and now...I have one.
TTA89 08-30-2003, 02:09 PM I was going to say, you might wanna think about ditching the 009s for some MSD 50s. I ran those in my TTA and they are awesome. They idle and drive just like stock.
The number 1 to remember is that in order to go fast you NEED Racegas and a Racechip. These cars don't run at all on pumpgas.
Going fast is all about tuning and setting the car up right. I can echo your statements. I watch 14 and 15 second GNs every week at NED with 11 seconds worth of parts.
Good Luck!
1st and goal 08-30-2003, 05:42 PM Thanks guys ;)
Took the new ride down and visited the old ride in Rhode Island today. The three of us had a nice chat.......told "the 94" not to **** around this time or it will be replaced ;)
Just kidding......the old girl is not going anywhere!!
Bill good to hear from ya ;)
I'll send you an "E" mail.
Oh and as far as the mod thing goes........
Going to cut out the plastic under the air filter and do just basic maintainance stuff (plugs, wires, fuel filter, etc...) otherwise the only thing I'd remotely consider doing is a Vigilante (next spring) to wake it up a little coming out of the hole but I'm sure the $700 for the Vig could be better spent on the 94 anyway.
$100 for the first person to catch me modding "the LS-1" other than the stuff above!!
**** that it's a driver!!
Geez.....leave it to Mikey to turn this into a Buick thread
Uncle Marc
TTA89 08-30-2003, 06:37 PM Bill Started it! Blame him!
bpm2k 08-30-2003, 08:19 PM Mike which race chip did you have the best luck with? The MSD 50s are a given as from what I have seen they give the best all around driveability and have a great selection of nice chips to power them.
Slowhawk 09-05-2003, 01:34 PM I got a nice set of fully polished Heads for a LS1 sitting here ready to sell:cool:
You know you want them:eek:
TTA89 09-06-2003, 10:23 PM I used a Lubrant Chip from PTE with 26 degrees of timing.
