Timing Retard on Scanmaster??

i'm installing the MSD 8982 to my MSD 6A and MSD window switch.. i'm getting detonation on a 150 shot.. to test the box without the NOS, will the scanmaster show the amount being retarded? how else can i tell the box is working correctly before i juice it?

All the ScanMaster (or any scanner) can tell you is how much timing the PCM is calling for, and how much knock retard the PCM is applying. It can't "see" what an external device is doing to the signal, after it leaves the PCM.
