Maybe looking for a LS1

I am thinking about trying to buy a LS1 sometime before Christmas. I currently have a 93 Camaro, with just about every botl on + the Lt4 hot cam (300rwhp). Can someone run down the difference in the LS1's. What were the better years? Any usualy engine problems, i.e. like the opti on LT1's? Anything special to look out for?
I know alot about the LT1's, just no so much about LS1's. My plan is to make my current car a track on, and the LS1 a daily driver. I will probably only change the intake and exhaust on the LS1.

sounds like you have a nice LT-1. You have 300 RWHP right now as you said, which is the same as a stock LS-1 essentially. Maybe you should consider keeping your LT-1, it's already paid off. However, the LS-1's are great motors.

don't know why you would want to start all over, but as you have asked:
98s have very little restrictions compared to other years. there are posts about this, i'm just giving you the basics.
01-02s have a bigger intake but smaller cam. They are easier to do a LS6 conversion though.

If you really should go with a 98 with the least amount of miles unless you are rich and can afford to get a 01-02.

I'm trying to sell my car, SLP lid and loudmouth, 13.08 @ 108.51, it has gone 13.06, only been to the track once, 2002 Z28 with 10,000 on it...

01's and 02' have the ls6 intake already which has been dynoed to give about 10rwhp over the ls1 intake on the earlier models...the oil pumps are the weak point from what ive heard so most change it out when doing a cam swap.

a few of my friends have 98's and they seem to be slower than the newer years for some reason. for a daily driver though, that doesnt really matter.

01-02 is the best year. Smaller cam, but LS6 intake mani, improved exhaust manifold, larger injectors, etc.

98s have larger injectors, not 01-02s.
