I saw something about this on another forum, and it can be made to work, but not easily.
I guess my question is "why bother"?

If you want to go FI on an older SBC, there are plenty of quality stand alone FI kits out there, and will bolt up with NO modifications. You can even use a standard carb type intake to match the flow of your big aftermarket heads.

budget i have looked at all the aftermarket efi @ thier prices of up to 3xxx for the better ones where as a lt1 intake/tpi efi harness & ecu and a sbc would be cheaper and it could be tuned

I got this from another site..

www.lt1intake.com/ (http://www.lt1intake.com/)

LT1 intake conversions for older small blocks... looks nice.
Can't use Vortec heads though....

when you say aftermarket, you meak aftermarket SBC heads, ot aftermarket LT1 heads?
Because, the LT1 heads will bolt up to the traditional SBC, but the water jackets are not compatible. You've gotta have traditional SBC heads...

they talk about this on the 3rd gen list. its not worth doing. i think the better setup would be tpi with after market heads. the lt1 intake ports and water passages are all different to the older sbc heads.

the reason i selceted that is the tpi stops making power at 4500 cause of the long runners and i would find a set of aftermarket performance tpi heads
